rear sway bar help!
my 87 930 has full charley bars front and rear and has always been a great stiff and predictable handler.
last week i was driving and heard a cracking sound. it made noise periodically or only when puling into my drive way where the roll stiffness of my car always lifts the front inside wheel...like many stiff 911's have always done. i finally located the strange sound! it seems that the pass side rear mounting bracket for the sway bar has broken. the sway bar bolts to the car underbody w/ 4 bolts...one of them has broken loose. the bolt is in tact but the actual bracket has broken. have you all ever encountered this problem? what do i do and who can help me re-fab this part in the charlotte, nc area? best, pcb |

You may want to check out this product- what happened to you is typical of 930's with aftermarket sway-bars. This product goes in place of the origonal- all you need is to weld it up.

Do a search. Several of us have run into the same problem. The fix is easy with a new WEVO mount as mentioned.

Yep been-there-done-that! Ripped my passenger side stock mount off the car, with in a week of installing 22mm sways.
Wevo's did the trick, 2 years later still no problem. They aren't real cheap, but worth every penny. I did all my own prep work, and then just had them welded on. The only real drag is the drivers side, because of the rear fuel pump. You will need to cut off the stock bracket, then re-work it and re-install it. I modified mine by carefully cutting it out, adding 3 nut plates to the car, then bolting up the modified original mount bracket. Others have done the same(or similar), and others have posted pictures. Search this forum for "sway bar mount replacements" (or something along those lines), and you will find all the info you need. Anyone with TIG welding experience can do the job.
The passenger side is easy, it’s the driver’s side that gets complicated, but not that much. The fuel pump cage needs to be removed first then the old RARB mount ground out. After welding the WEVO mount back, just a few (4 ins) of welding and the fuel cage is back in place.
