Turbo guys..could use your help here....

Little back ground first...
'91 964 Turbo 34K miles and just had valves adjusted by a Porsche master mech few months ago...
Today was the first time i took the car out to the back roads here in KY and had fun making few 6000 rpm pulls. It was right after that, while driving at 70 mph,all of a sudden i noticed my RPM tach started wondering up and down so i immediatly pulled over.I never felt any noise, tapping, smoke or any other unusual stuff..
Car would crank but won't start..
1)-so where do i look for loose hoses...
2)-Could bad valve adjutment account for this problem..
3)-Would taking the valve covers off, make the oil spill out and how much oil are we talking here..
4)-To check for compression, what's the easiet access to the spark plugs..My friend tells me,he can access the plugs through the fenders after taking the wheels off...Does that sound OK.
5)-Is some one kind enough to PM me their tele number to call should we run into problems .
Any other suggetions..
Thanks
Yasir

If the tach is bouncing all over the place...then you have an electrical issue.... There probably is nothing wrong internally with your engine. I am not sure, but does the C-2 Turbos have a CDI box? (permatune box) ... I would check all of the grounds, and make sure you are getting a spark at the coil. If not, then you have found your problem..

by the way, the wife and I drove my car up to Berea and Shaker village one year... LOVED the curvy country roads...

Yes tach bounce followed by stranded on the side of the road is typical elecrical problem. Could be many things with the C2T as they are much more burdened with elecrtonics than the earlier 930.

YES! The country roads of KY are awesome. I love cruising down to Rabbit Hash and the surrounding areas. I just drive until I'm tired and lost then I turn on the GPS and say "take me home".

I had my tach bouncing all over the place and ended up being he alternator went bad. Replaced it and solved the problem.

Alternator could be culprit but you say the car cranked. If the alternator fails the battery will not charge then could not crank starter. If the aternator has a short it may crank but not start.
You need a wiring schematic to see what powers what in series.

Yes, check the voltage first. Two things can happen. One is the car is low on voltage. Anytime you start your car it takes 45 minutes of continuous driving to replenish what it took the car to start with. SOOOOO if you have a low battery and you start it and do a few short trips then you are really straining the system.

The other thing is the alternator could be going out. Take a volt meter and run the car to 2K (with someone’s help) check the voltage at the battery, it should be at 14 volts.

Lastly, the diodes in the alternator can go out one by one causing massive dirty signals coming out of the system and the tach is sensitive to that voltage spike if you will. If this is the case everything will still work (for a while) but needs to be replaced and or rebuilt.

FWIW the 91-94 Turbos didn't use the hall sensor in the dizzy, it was a hybrid of ignitions from the 3.2 and the 944/928 and used a ref sensor on the flywheel.

Could be

Coil... If no spark, then coil could be going bad. Do you have another 930 around? You could borrow to check. Or it could be as simple as rotor or possibly CDI box.
