Wink My new 930

Hi
I actually picked it up last Sept. but I hope that I now have the technology to post some pics. Its a 87 Carmine red coupe with a tan and black interior all stock @ 60K miles. This is my first Porsche and I looked for about 6-8 months before this one came up local for cheap I was on it like a dog on a bowl of warm guts. My buddy calls it "Porsche on Steroids" and he's right I told him that I thought I was buying a nice fast sports car, I had no idea I was buying a Super Car. This thing is bullet quick, and as 930 owners we are lucky Ralph Nader never drove these or he would have banned them at their inception.
I had to change the wind sheild washer pump and I put new chrome center caps and a 930S sterring wheel but thats it. Future plans are for an exhaust from Brian.
The wifey was a little choked, she thought she was getting a new kitchen, foolish girl, she had 2 choices, get over it or die mad, She's cool with it now. The big thing was also that she had to park outside when the P-car came home, and we have covered parking for 5. I did buy her a new umbrella though, I've always been a good provider, and Hey - its only a Civic.
This site is the best, the info out there is over whelming and has been a real eye opener, I thought I knew a little bit, wrong, but I have picked up so much good info here that I now consider myself a Full Fledge Rookie.
I have an office set up in the garage, for some work related stuff and I spend a lot of time out here, it's kinda like my living room, I tinker and dick around out here and it's special to be around the car, it makes my heart feel good. My only regret is not getting a 930 15 years ago.
Hope the pic's come through.
Finn

"Get over it or die mad"....I'll have to try that on my wifey someday. The fact remains that boys must have their toys, and our women need to realize that stroking a beautiful car is nothing like stroking the female form. We still love them (the wives, that is). Luckily the bed's not big enough for a car.
Beautiful 930, I'm certain you'll enjoy the heck out of it. I too have a small "office" in my garage/shop, which alternates between a library for my volumes of 930 reading and a workspace for the tinkering. And, of course, room for my beer cooler. Get kinda thirsty with the long hours spent.

Nice car...nice story!
Take the wifey for a ride now and then, just to keep her mind off that kitchen remodeling job...

Beautiful find. I did the kitchen before I bought mine. It worked out well I brought mine home on fathers day so she couldn`t be mad.....

Great looking car and great story. I too had a similar experience as my wife (then GF) was not too thrilled when I bought my car before the engagement ring. Eventually she got over it and now loves the car.
Again, Congrats on the Purchase!

Awesome Finn - congrats and welcome. Hilarious story - I often say the same. Like, it's hard to be put in the dog house when you live there. Or - whattayagonnado.. "yell at me"??? 8-)

Beautiful looking car - red '87s rule heh heh. Kidding aside, "Carmine Red"... I'm having a tough time determining from the pics but it sure does look like Guards Red. Color me crazy? I got it - post more pics... we love those. Maybe it's a shade more burgundy or something?

Oh and love the garage theory - to my wife's chagrin I too spend a lot of time in mine, it's my happy place... beer fridge, tunes, cars, tools, posters - what more does a guy need?

That truck in the carport is my 58 GMC 100, original V8 4spd, box is off a 90's pick up, I'm selling it so the wifey can retire the umbrella.

Ya it could be gaurds red and probably is , I'm calling it Carmine red from an old reciept from the PO who had some detailing done and they called it CR, sticker is under the hood just never bothered to confirm the color.
My Garage is also my happy spot, all the same amenities as you, have the 930, 12 cyl E type Jag, Formula Ford and my 9 yr. olds 1/4 midget sprint and his other track kart - its guy garage to the max and I love it.
What more could a guy want???? Another 930 of course but that would be a tough sell to the wifey before the kitchen.
Bottom line is " I'm a lucky guy "
