need mechanic in or near Sante fe,NM
oil light came on while driving 80mph for 7hours, down shifted into 4th and light went out. Shifted back in to 5th and red light will come on again. Using Rotella synthetic 5w/40. Temp reading at first mark all day but needle moved up to almost half way to next
mark. Any clues ? I am a stranger here in Sante Fe, I was on my way to New Orleans. Any clues as to what could be wrong or where I should take my 84 911 |

Percy,
First thing I would check is the oil level ,, when you downshift to 4th the rpms go up hence oil pressure rises... So you have a 5 speed in an 84??? What is the pressure reading on the guage ?? Also Turbo934 is in Sante Fe,, I'd give him a PM he's a pretty knowledgeable guy

5W/ 40 is to thin for an aircooled motor I would run 15/40 Rotella or Aero Shell 40W. Give me a call.
