Turbo Chatter/Sputter?
For lack of a better words...
It feels like my engine sputters sometimes when I kick in boost..... Boost needle goes to .8 but engine does not want to go and I have to back off..... Then it runs perfect and strong.... I am trying to keep a log of when it happens - but today it was when I was just cruising around town under no boost for a while - then kicked in boost at a light and it felt like maybe fuel starvation... The other day I was running at maybe 3k on the highway for a while and then I could feel the same thing "without any boost"..... Engine just got ruff and then it went away... I am not much of a wrench - Sorry cant explain better.... Fuel filter or ? ![]() Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Stock motor or modified? Did this start just suddenly one day, or has it slowly been coming on and getting worse over time?
Since it seems to be boost related, I would suspect maybe the WUR is faulty and dropping control pressure too far - going too rich. Or, maybe a simple vacuum or air leak which would result in the same thing (rich on boost). Other possibilities are weak or erradic spark. You're gonna have to get some readings on things like control pressures, AFR/CO%, ignition timing, plug condition, intercooler O'rings and pipes/hoses for leaks, to help narrow down the fault.

Could be that the car is running to rich and causing it to buck. You need to put a wideband on the car and run it to see your readings. Could be an easy fix, IE adjustment screw.

i'm starting to wonder if there's more of these cars in s. florida than anywhere else in the states.
one good thing here is we have no emission inspections and can drive them year round. |
