tire review

has anyone tried running Falken Azenis RT-615 on their turbos. they make a 315/30/18 which is desirable to me. they look like Kumho Ecsta XS. anyone have any luck with either of these. the price is right, but with the $$ just spent on susp improvements, i dont want a weak link with a bogus tire. any feedback on 18" tires is much appreciated. what is a good front size to pair with the 315? thanks, kevin

I have the Falken RT615's in 315/30x18 on the back and 225/40x18 on the front. If I did them again I'd get the 235/40x18 for the fronts.

I like them other than the prices went up. They have been making them for around 5 years now so check the dates on the sidewall if purchasing them.

The Kumho's are available in the same sizes for less $ last I time looked and they are said to be good too.
Tire rack.com has reviews from customers and might be helpful to look at.

Which manufacturer has the widest 315/30-18's?
I have found Pirellis to be the skinniest, by as much as 3/4", when compared to other brands listed as the same size.

falkens

thanks for the feedback. JFairman, you were right about falkens. i noticed on ebay and craigslist 3 seperate people selling falken 615's in the size i want for rear,315/30/18. brand new. i almost bought a set but i checked falken website and learned that the new version is the 615k. and the recommend not running a mixed set front/rear. i think i almost assumed somebody elses mistake. i had the Kumho ecsta xs on the car i crashed and thought they were great. plus they looked great on dorociaks 3.6 turbo 3 pc. rims .. i think ill go same set-up :235/315x18. looked terrific on my red 930. hope they will look as good on my new black one. will post photos when front end upgrade and wheels are finished... thanks again...kevin

do they make a 245? for the front? the reason I am asking is I have bfg tdkw, love them but the widest i can get in 18's are 285's i was running 285's at the back and 225's on the front and kept having the fronts lock up at the track. because they were too skinny for the rears I switched to 235's on the front and they work perfect with the 285's on the back. If i go to 315's of some other brand on the back the the fronts need to be 245's or 255's. unless you want to install a proportioning valve in the brake system.

tire sizes

ken911- the section width on the kumho xs 315 is 12.6 and the 235 is 9.5. i know different manufacturers are sized dfferently. this combo was recommended by a few 930 guys. but i have noticed there are a lot of 245,255 fronts. i have 993tt brakes front and rear if that would make any difference in braking characteristics. your thoughts. i had success before but i never tracked it either. but i do want the optimum combo......thanks for advise, kevin

if you have swapped over to the big reds you might need a proportioning valve like the 993's any ways. The only real way to check is at the track.
