need help recognizing 935

Hi I have found a 935 bodykit'ed car in north Hollywood salvage auction that I may be interested in buying, maybe someone have seen it in real or at least could tell me whose body conversion it has? There are no engine photo, so it would be great if someone could tell me a bit more about this car.

thanks

My guess is that would be an AIR kit.

Get the VIN number and that will help tell us what the chassis is. As it sits its not a 935, its a turbo flared car with 964 front and rear bumpers, boxed rockers and 930S slantnose fenders.

At best it would be just a 930.

Slantz - the illegits

Howdy Chaps,

Man, seems like yesterday, but it’s sinking in that this era is now over a quarter century ago so look for a sentimental post over on the 911 forum regarding the slant illegit’s of which the attached pics are a sampling. Just as Garretson was the General Motors in the day for intercoolers badged with every hot rod shop logo who sold them, there was a small out of the way shop in a corn field in Ill that dominated the slant nose business and these fenders have the hallmark of their conversion. Specifically the steep drop off from the outer headlight bucket rim down the the rubber smile.

Reach in the fender and wrap a knuckle on the head light bucket, if resonates like the 3 gauge steel on a John Deere fender it likely came from Golden Custom Coachworks, the working man’s solution for a slant nose conversion as opposed to Allan Johnson’s or Derek Daly’s high end versions. This could be an early conversion as the boxed rocker decks look straight front to rear. Their later conversions had a very subtle sweep outward front to rear and they began making their own rocker panels to fit as it was difficult to bend the stockers and they'd come up a touch short when done so. GCC also made their own extended rocker end caps.

Also, the rear brake vents rear leading faces are more perpendicular to the fender sides rather than having being curved like the factory. Pictured is the (humble) man himself installing mine effortlessly. He sold kits to shops as seen by that pile of fender tops but it was the rare shop that could get them to fit without metal shrinkage or warping causing the outer perimeters of the head light bucket to rise or the louvered top sections not follow the hood fair lines.

Anywho……. back to today's discussion on EFI....
