I want to diable the alarm on my 87 930 as I suspect it is draining my battery even if I'm not using it. I'm away from the car but I doubt its as easy as pulling the fuse. Whats the easiest way to do this?
Bear in mind that I am an electrical idiot. Thanks Finn |

Finn, the best way to diagnose a drain issue is to either use a multi meter or buy a cheap trailer light from your local car parts store. Take off the negative terminal and wire the light between the terminal and the battery cable. The brighter the light is, the more of a drain there is on the system. Then you just start pulling fuses one by one till the light either goes out or dims. Keep in mind that your clock, radio and alarm will draw off of this. Once you find the circuit that is draining the battery, you can start to diagnose from there.

Not the best idea to start discussing easy ways to disable alarms. Steal cars much?

The only way to do it is to remove the air box in the front trunk and unplug the alarm box and the car should start. You will need to bridge the bl/rt wire and the bl wire to allow the ALT to charge. (61 and 61a) on the side of the alarm box. It's not as bad as it look either. Just takes a little time.

![]() Hope this helps you find the root cause of your problem, as for the specifics, I will let the Pelicanites help out. I am fighting a similar issue right now with my 04 Denali. It kills the battery in 2 days and the dealer can't find the problem because the truck isn't throwing any codes...... |
