Do you mean that I shouldn't come to public with my case ? What would have you done if you were in my position ?
I probably would have done the same as yourself. In my statement, I was trying to show some sympathy towards TurboKraft. Their effort to resolve this matter now, is far greater than 3 months prior.
What I have learned from my business is, the buying public wants honesty and consideration when making their purchases. The level of honesty and consideration is being debated here.
I am glad everything has worked out, and this forum has shown support for both sides.

I have dealt with Thierry on various parts he needed for his project. I must say he is a fine gentleman with obvious integrity. I consider him my european friend .It is good that this unfortunate incident is resolved .

Best Regards,

Dear all,

My name is Euclydes Milliet Aranha , I live in Brazil and a Porsche Lover since a kid . I own since a 911 Carrera RS 1973 VIN 9113600605 to last air cooled single turbo 911.

80% of the parts that I need is purchased at Pelican, my vendor, Mr. Glenn says that I am one on the top 10 best and bigger clients from Pelican Parts .

Being a TURBOKRAFT client since 2009 with small parts purchase , I was very well received by Mr. Chris Carroll. In January 2011 I ordered the complete build of 3.8 6 TBs single turbo project + parts that was estimated more than 85K. The building time promised was 8 weeks. On December 2011 (while the engine not ready yet), 9 months after, I decided to buy another car and change the engine from single turbo to 2 turbo to build a 993 Gt2 and order more parts to convert the first car to EFI ( kit , turbo , gaskets ….. 10K Plus )

The problem is on the last 3 months ( with all the payments needed done as requested impeccably ) is being difficult to contact Mr. Carroll , he does not reply SMS and the rare mails are vague and does not update correctly . I am very sorry to write here, but I need to split with everyone what is happening. As soon as the situation come back to normal & professional level I will be the first to state here as I will If needed to go to legal consequences, what we less want to do.

Sorry for my limited English and thank you .

Chris has a very good reputation and any work he is doing is well worth waiting for. As far as his communication with you I don't know what the issues are...(keep trying and stay patient) On a custom engine build like yours, sometimes there are delays from custom parts suppliers. All Chris can do is wait for them to come through and hope the parts come sooner than later. The parts delay may or may not be the issue, but we see it in our shop on a regular basis on custom builds.

I bought a used k27 hybrid T04b turbo, had it sent directly to Chris at TK. They did a spectacular job rebuilding it, up to brand new condition, with a warranty. All very reasonable too.
I'm sure you situation was a fluke.
Chris is a good guy, always responded to my emails within minutes sometimes.
TK all the way!

Helmsy 03-04-2012 12:12 AM

I believe they have had email troubles recently.

If your only contact with him is via email you may need to keep trying or ring him instead.

As an aside, I am not a big fan of Extrude-Hone, nor were any of the engine builders I used when racing. Good in theory, mediocre at best in practice. I may send TK some work but will specifically ask that EH not be used.

I thought my Formula Ford engine builder was in danger of having a stroke when I mentioned EH to him. He went ballistic.

Thnak you , he does not respond my mails nor reply my calls . No money was saved on this build and I an very dissapointed with this .

its impossible to not replying the clients , this is the major legal actions igniter , leave the clients in blank , if he states that is facing any kind of problems and tell me that its gonna take more months updating me weekly Ii am ok , but silence is nor accepted . best regards

I sent a set of heads to Extrude Hone in California. They promised very good flow numbers on them. They told me they had an amazing program for them etc. Long story short they did very little to nothing on them. They actually went as far as to send fake flow sheets etc. I posted about this years ago. The owner of the company Ed would dodge me, and actually laughed in my face. I won a BBB suit on him and posted everywhere. Never got a penny back.

There is always two sides to every story. I'm sure TurboKraft will always take the high road, consequently this is an unfair arena. This thread is tacky and in poor taste.

I don't think "tacky" or "good taste" factors into the equation when one feels they have been ignored and robbed!

gsxrken 03-05-2012 04:01 PM

I've seen nothing but positive attestations about TurboKraft. The poster from Brazil revived a year old thread in post 47, in my opinion that was in poor taste. His issue and the original one are distinct.

On the other hand, I have been around automotive specialty shops for decades, and there are many examples of tuner shops and parts vendors that burn a brighter and brighter arc until all of the sudden the SHTF for some reason. When they go, they suddenly unravel quickly. The Internet has sped it all up, too.
I AM BY NO MEANS applying this to TK. One complaint a year, valid or not, isn't even a rounding error. However, the fastest way known to man to elicit one of these "vendor took my money and screwed me" posts is for the vendor to go dark. Don't go dark, vendors. It gets people nervous.

Spoke to Chris only a few hours ago...we're just putting the finishing touches to my order. Had a good chat, as we always do, and I'm looking forward (okay, I'm bouncing off the ceiling with excitement!) to receiving the second tranche of goodies in the next week or so.

Would say, (as suggested), that there's probably two sides to everything. Speak as I find, and just my 2p.

Good point!

This story simply doesn't add up. Spending over 100k and sitting on your bud waiting for a call back...I have flown back from Canada to Europe for way less than that... A few days and an airplane ticket is all it will cost...

Its a small world.....
