265

edit: Actually, you can also fit 275s, but I think there's only race rubber in that size.

Kumho Ecsta XS (check out Tire Rack) in 265/45/16. I think guys are running 225/50/16 in the front. No FHE.

What ^Noah^ said, 265(r) / 225(f) - cheap and STICKY.

'Somewhat' loud (a bit of a resonant whir @ highway speed - whatever).

'Somewhat' quick wearing (wear exacerbated by running a DE on 'em, as well as generally beating the f'n bag outta them - YMMV).

Who cares - for the pricepoint / sticky / SIZING factor, they were a no brainer for me as retaining the OE Fuchs was paramount.

Here's some shots the day I got 'em mounted, corner balanced, aligned:

Did I mention they're *STICKY*???

Have you got pictures. At some point I want WIDE wheels on mine. I'd prefer old school (or maybe RH 3.6). 17s would be great for old school looks.

My fender lips have been cut (sadly) but it enables wider wheels I guess.

For the other question from jsveb, in 17" sizes, the widest tire you can fit under stock fenders are 335s, I think. But last time I checked there was only one tire available in that size (it was over a year ago, so I may be wrong). Most guys running wide tires are going for 315 widths on 11" wide wheels. I think there were 3 or 4 street tires available in that size. If you do a search on this turbo forum for "wheels" or something like that, you'll find quite a few pictures of 315/35/17 rears.

I actually think it's a bit more accurate - go figure. I found it to be pretty far off over 40mph w/ the OE sizes.

I do somewhat notice the gearing-effect w/ the taller rubber, both off the line and @ speed.

Hey Cameron - thanks! Stock 7's & 9's here. Someday, Lindsay's!

Been meaning to chime in on your intro post to say "WELCOME / CONGRATS" but hadn't gotten around to it. Sweet '89! Nice score, good for you.

Corning eh?

I've got a good Pnut friend that works for Corning and is out there often - I'll have to tell him to keep an eye out for you.

We go to Vintage Fest @ the Glen each fall, took my 930 last time. We should hook up... gooooood tiiiiiiimes there!!!

Hey Paul. Thanks. Yeah, we should definitely hook up in the fall. I'll bring my easy-up and a keg and we'll have a Peli-Party.

I'll be doing a lot of hanging around the track this season.

PMB me your friends name that's here. I may know him, or probably should, right?

I grew up in CT BTW. Used to love to go to Lime Rock as a kid. Bob Sharp and his operation was right down the road from me in Wilton.

Cameron - email me s8editor@s-cars.org, we'll take this offline. Bud's name is Mike Platt, currently rocks a Cayenne TT, a 356, and an Elise. Madman extraordinairre. He's in NH but is @ the Corning, Corning facility often.

Jah, let's def gtg for WGVF! Lime Rock's great, but WG is the cat's ass - comparatively. Good for you getting to spend more time there - I'm 5hr away sigh...

Look fwd to meeting you.

Now back to max tire widths!
