name that under-dash wire:

Might someone recognize the plug under the radio circled on the right? (stop laughing @ my mad MS Paint skillz):

It's a 90* plug that has a rubber head going into the firewall just next to the back side of the heater duct.

The 2nd circle on the left is a snipped wire in that (OE) loom.

Anyone know what wire this is?

TIA!

Might be wiper interval relay? The relay is behind the fresh air fan anyway.

Paul,

I believe it feeds power to the right side of the luggage compartment. Provides power to, glove box light and switch, luggage compartment light, etc.

lol @ the "pull it and see what stops" diag - shoulda thought of that 8-)

snip it? It's already snipped silly - it's circled on the left ^there^.

My interior lights and under-hood light work. Will check glovebox light - I doubt that works, sounds plausible.

THANKS

Speaking of underhood lights - huh, who knew (not me) that we have underhood lights for the engine compartment. Neat little device there! Course no worky. I cleaned it up hoping just corroded but nogo. Bulb looks good. Will test voltage. Is there a mercury or push switch that turns it off automatically in the event you forget to twist the shield shut (off)? Curious.

Also learned last night we have side-specific parking lights w/ the blinker switch - sure everyone (but me) knew that tho 8-)...

I havn't tried the light in the engine compartment recently but I think you have to have the parking lights on for it to work. A built in feature to keep the battery from running down if you accidentally leave it on and close the lid.
Kinda sorta like the headlight washer pump that doesn't run for 1 second when you press the dash switch unless the lights are on.

Could be a bad bulb or dirty bulb socket contacts, try spinning the bulb while it's on and check the contacts with a meter or test light. Or maybe the wire is undone from someone removing the rear lid in the past and not hooking it back up later.

anyway, i'm sure you could get it working again and it's nice to have when you want it.

The headlight washer pump is seperate from the 2 windsheild wiper washer pump circuts.
