Fantastic! Now stay out of jail on the way home ;)

SCHNELE 03-30-2013 07:33 PM

I don't think I am going to drive it back but I won't rule it out. I am going for the dyno day and to make sure it is right before being shipped.

SCHNELE 03-30-2013 07:52 PM

Thanks Miguel and Mike.

Linc,

Got you in my Easter thoughts, wishing you a GREAT dyno day... You may not want to let her out of your sight WHEN all goes well. I'm sure if you decided to drive her home you'd have an entourage of turbos flanking your hips (if we could keep up) all the way back home!

SCHNELE 03-30-2013 09:49 PM

Wow, the thought of that alone is quite the salute. I would be thrilled to meet you guys in person and I think the parade this summer would be a great. My vacation home is on Lake Charlevoix 30 minutes of twisties from Traverse City where the Parade will be held. I would be great if we have a gathering of 930s en mass to roll from Charlevoix to Traverse City.

Drive it home. Planes are too slow.
14-14 1/2 hours at 140MPH your there.

jsveb 03-31-2013 04:46 AM

Been off the radar for a week and is greeted with this awesome news.

All the best to you Lincoln.

SCHNELE 03-31-2013 06:17 AM

Thanks guys, the Champagne will remain in ice though until the car is vetted.

GJF 03-31-2013 07:31 AM

I'm wondering how Linc's going to be able to sleep yet alone wait til Thursday! Bravo!! Lincoln!! Best wishes to ya!

M5guy 03-31-2013 07:34 AM

I sure hope you get to drive it at least one mile per every $ and hour you have put into it. Have fun!

TimNiceBut 03-31-2013 10:05 AM

Have an awesome trip!

Shadetree930 has experience driving with a group of Turbos that included Linc. The Pre-TK drive was wild enough.

Give him aTK modded car .... we are talking jail time.

Well OK .... we were talking jail time then as well, we just did not get caught.

Enjoy the car Lincoln!

SCHNELE 03-31-2013 04:27 PM

Yeah Dave, dunno how I going to sleep, hoping everything goes right this time. Shadetree what is this speed you speak of lol.

SCHNELE 03-31-2013 04:28 PM

That was fun. Big grins!

No better way to get reacquainted with your baby than drive her home. You, your newly rebuilt 911 Turbo, and the open road. Need I say more? I mean c'mon. :-)

I look for opertunities like that all the time. I understand not wanting to be far from home base if a problem arises but do you really think there will be an issue after all this? Not driving it home is almost like saying you hate your car. You should drive that bi.ch home. Sorry.

TurboKraft 03-31-2013 09:00 PM

After all the time, effort, challenges, and heartbreak, we're glad to have Lincoln jet out for the day, test drive it, and sign off on it before it goes home.

Doing the throttle body pipe in the car was impossible because this engine compartment is very tight to work in. We're glad to have complete 930 and 3.2 mock-up engines for fabrication purposes. Once the intercooler was positioned, everything was transferred to the mock-up for final fab. This including grinding and welding on the huge throttle body housing (again) for additional clearance so it didn't interfere with the intercooler cold side tank.

John is a really talented fabricator and, not leaving good enough alone, managed to squeeze a 4" aluminum air intake in place of the already tight-fitting 3" intake. More air is always a good thing. Stand-off brackets keep it from contacting the fender-mounted A/C condenser. And to think the original shop said no intake would fit so they just stuffed a tiny air filter directly on the turbocharger...

"Is it now that we will guess for the dyno result? :-)"
It should be back to 600whp on pump gas, like it did before meth. And no more heat soaking of the intercooler.

Secan? No.
I hope we get a car with one of those Secan intercoolers in someday. When we do, I'm going to test and datalog the hell out of it, see if it measures up to the legends and price tag.

We've yet to find the limits of our Billet Full-Width Intercooler. It performs very well at 800whp.

RR350 alloy? No, these started out as 911 3.2 Carrera heads.

Looks great.

I would like to see your fabricator ar work. It sure looks tight, and clean.

Spenny_b 04-01-2013 08:25 AM

Superb work as always Chris, bravo!

...although I'm now seeing Lincolns 4" intake ducting, and wondering again whether to try and do something similar, or stick with the Tom "Odyssey" filter location, longitudinally alongside where the EZ69 used to mount....decisions decisions....

Can't wait to hear Lincolns thoughts on what 600hp feels like!
