What is this sensor?
***Not my car***
Mine didn't have this sensor when I pulled the engine but there was a wire there for it.

That's the low oil pressure switch . . . note post #11 for diagram etc:

Thanks but how is it a switch? Looks more like a sending unit. What does it switch? Does it turn something on or off?

By "switch" I meant it triggers the dash idiot light . . . sending unit is probably a better word for it.
