A/C Question
I am trying to replace the AC fan switch which is not the original. It is currently a 3 speed, really need a 4 speed or one that is like a potentiometer for a gradual increase in speed.
On Ebay, I find original AC switches for both an '87 Carrera and a 930 turbo. Can someone tell me if either of those originals was a 3 or 4 spd or a potentiometer type? Any help will really be appreciated.

Thank you Benny. I just might have to go with the 4 spd and assume it will work.

They all have 4 positions: off, 1, 2, and 3.
That correlates to off, too slow to do anything, slow, and medium. There is no such thing as high from the 911 evaporator fan compared to other cars but you can buy faster spinning aftermarket fan motors that take some evaporator box modification to install from Griffiths and Retro air. Those motor upgrades only install in the top half of late 70's and early '80's evaporator boxes though. Griffiths also sells a nice continuos fan speed switch controller that deletes the resistor pack in the passenger side return duct that removes some airflow restriction and lets you choose your own medium fan speeds. |
