What are you doing with that old CIS system on the shelf

I was reading "JIM2" thread 930 EFI conversion in Process and see that he got a $900.00 credit for his CIS stuff .

I got a credit back of $900 on the sale of my CIS system/intake manifold/WUR.

I'd like to have these parts in reserve if I ever wish to bring my car back to original equipment. If there is anyone who is planning a EFI conversion and would like to sell their old CIS system for a comparable price please let me know.

After researching the asking price of turbo CIS systems I see the $900.00 is a very generous price for a system. Under some circumstances it might be worth this ie. newly reconditioned fuel head, adjustable WUR and low mileage but there are more commonly going around $600.00.

There is this funny thing about saving all the old stock parts, be it what ever they are. We all do it (and you know you do), and we all do it with the same rational.

But face it, nobody is ever going to put their car "back to stock" with all the old parts.

I mean, are you going to save the original window rubber seals, so that you can put it back to stock...no you aren't, your going to buy new rubber. The same goes for suspension, fuel, etc, etc.

So why do we continue doing this, I don't know, but maybe one of us will give up their "stored parts" and help out here.

I alas, have not yet gone to E.F.I., so I do not have the "stored parts" for you, sorry.

I have a cis from an 86 ( as far as I remember) it is missing the wur. I used it for a BL mod.
It has got cleaned and tested injectors though.

I have several complete CIS systems in stock. Every great once in a while someone wants to put the numbers matching system back on their car. Trouble with shelving these systems is after a year the components start to deteriorate inside and old fuel residue turns to varnish requiring a full restoration.

Pack rats, most of us. I just this weekend went through every piece I've saved as the result of my "enhancements"...cleaned and moved everything into my hobby room inside the house vs. out in the garage.
I can't imagine puting all that stuff back on the car, but neither can I imagine getting rid of (selling) it either. Someone, somewhere, 20 years from now when gas is $25.00/gallon (if you can even find gas) there will be someone that just "must have" the rare stock parts I have. But first the rest of you guys need to get rid of your spares, to drive the price up for me (supply and demand, you know).

After having to dealing with my dad's extreme pack rat syndrome, after he died, I refuse to collect that much crap!

I'm just about ready to put an ad on Craigs list, saying package deal, cheap, come and get it!

All my A/C stuff, all my stock suspension stuff, stock air cleaner, collapsible spare tire, jack, rear bumper tits, skid pan, etc. etc.

Anyway, gotta help Mark H. out you with his future retirement package........

It's kind of like keeping the box from that new TV you bought 10 years ago. Some guys pay monthly to store crap that one day they might need but almost never do need it in the end. It's a good thought though

If your putting a system in long term storage 10+ years, is there any use in tearing apart and thoroughly cleaning before. As opposed to a normal cleaning. Or are the years just going to mean a full restoration either way?

I just converted my 87 to EFI and have a freshly removed CIS system with a modified high volume fuel distributor. Yes it ran rich. Also have a spare WUR. We're both in Canada if you are interested.

Were you at Calabogie this last summer? there was a small gang from NS.

I have a 1980 3.0 Targa 500 miles on the rebuild...The CIS including the ECU is new or rebuilt. New injectors, rb fuel distributor, warm up mod, fuel lines ect complete CIS system goes, I'm doing a EFI...ALL $1200.00

most of the part still have warntanty. ECU is for 6 years
