First of the comments,
So I have had my 930 less than a month and I have already heard three times,
" I had one just like it" and then the "I do not remember the flares so big" or something like that Me "all Turbo's had big flares" then" mine was not a turbo" ![]() Non-Porsche people, 911's from 65-89 are all the same. |

This even includes some insurance companies - USAA does not recognise a 911 Turbo or 930 . . . even though my VIN indicates that the car is a real Turbo, USAA calls it a Carrera (I even called and talked to a rep about this - no help) . . .

WOW, thanks for the info, and I will follow up on that - last I checked was when the policy was new (about five years ago or so) . . . I looked into it when I got insurance cards that read "carrera" . . . at the time, this worried me that I had an "imitation 930", but I checked the vin via the guidelines in Bruce Anderson's book and it is indeed a 930 . . . strange!

So true about the brakes - the only other brake set-up more eyepopping than the 930's, which I have experienced, were those on my Ducati 748R racebike . . .

Yes, I found out the hard way that a 930 cable is an inch and a half to short.
I like the 'dog leg' 1st and the gears are spaced very nicely. it also has Ruf P&C in 3.4L but the heads were done in this country by Andial. It actually drives much like a regular SC of the same vintage when off boost. ![]()

Since it's a Ruf conversion, it may well have started life as a Carrera, I wouldn't worry about it. Re the insurance, I was going to run mine thru my USAA policy but they suggested I utilize collector car insurance with their partner American Collector. It's a fair bit cheaper too fwiw.
