The article is online, for now : Excellence :: Second Bill : 1976 930 with 600,000+miles
It's, almost 1 million kms, for us metric-folks, still on it's first owner.
And it looks badass

What a great read. Sounds like he had MM do an engine rebuild for him at one time.

...or twice.

Very neat that one of the original 930s has racked up so many miles. I wish I had as deep pockets as the owner, to be able to keep replacing motor after motor.

But the author's style of writing I did not like. Wonder if he writes the lines for Yoda as his other job.

No, not MM.

Bill is a helluva nice guy. Worked with him years ago when he still had CIS and a 3.3L. Only recently did we get back in touch as he needed a good crankshaft for fixing his engine. Glad to hear from him again, and hope to run with him at the Mile in the future.

Funny -- he drives the car so much he's worn out weird stuff you'd never think of being capable of wearing out. Like the clutch lever pivot rod in the pedal box: worn out after only 330,000 miles. :-)

That was a great story! The fellow is livin' the dream. Too bad he was ripped off on the engine but with as much as that car was used he was bound to run into some bad guys. I'd love to hear the battle stories of the multitude of road challenges he must have received over the years from every type of muscle/sports car you can think of. One item that really caught my attention was the PS about his latest engine being blown by the faulty Meth injection that didn't shut off. You Meth guys need to check your failure modes 'casue that ain't one you want.

does anyone on board have any experience with the wheels? I'm really wanting some 17s for my car and the Fuchs waiting list is years, or so it seems.

Tops...I think Bill has done enough "testing" on those Penta wheels to insure your confidence in the product.

Those wheels are the anti-bling!!! So period Porsche. So purposeful. I love em.

Very similar to the early German Ronal wheels. These fit perfect on 1977 930 with the stock spacers, however 16".
