Reasonable dyno numbers/86 CIS

I decided to get a baseline AFR/Dyno run before sending my WUR out to Brian. I think I saw pretty good numbers this morning for a stock ignition and stock CIS system. The only mods are a BW S200, Tial 1 bar, and Borla. Fairly fresh engine rebuild.

320 RWHP 341 ft/lbs. Running very rich.

That looks nice.
Isn't that about 350 chp with an afr at 10.

Looking forward to seeing the same graph after the updates

Thank you very much for posting this.

They are very good figures. When I had mine dyno all standard I had 300 bhp at the flywheel , spot on with factory power. I then adjusted boost to 1 bar and got 330 bhp and 325 lb ft tq all at the flywheel. My car is all standard and was running 10 afr as well. I now have a Leask WUR and am slowly tuning. Currently gone from 10 to 10.75 so more to do.
If yours is wheel HP then that is awesome.

Did you actually run it on an engine dyno or a wheel dyno?
What I am looking for is the conversion factor for tranny loss that you were using in the calculations. Its good to get another opinion on a good number for this.
Alot of flywheel hp values are skewed one way or the other depending on tranny loss assumptions.
I took my stock 1979 930 when I purchased it at 86k miles and ran it on a wheel dyno and saw 242rwhp....only thing that was different than stock was crappy 3 into 1 collectors in place of the thermal reactors. This equated to 278 flywheel hp at 15% tranny loss factor. Pretty close to factory quotes.

BW S200 = Borg Warner turbo.

Fellow running the dyno says he allows for 10% loss on cars without driveshafts, so he said 350 HP would be reasonable crank number for my car.

All in all, a very pleasant surprise on a dreary monday.

320WHP is about the number I would expect from your setup.
I've dynoed a few bone stock 930s now and find the WHP numbers to be right at 15% less than the factory claimed CHP. The early stock USA cars come in at ~225WHP and the stock Euro cars 255WHP. The tried and true turbo/IC/1bar/muffler combo is usually right at 320WHP give or take depending on the turbo. That would be ~375CHP.

It's running rich up to 5500rpm and then over 12AFR but that AFR graph is way too tiny to get any accurate readings. FYI, I could not get my midle rich dialed out with only BLWur.

You might need something to fool the BLwur until higher rpms. Some use boost solenoid and others have tried boost relief valves and then there is electric controllers like split second AIC.

The rpm activated solenoid kit will delay midrange enrichment by blocking the boost signal to the WUR at a preset rpm of your choosing.

BL+rpm solenoid kit and you're done, if you're happy with the power. You will gain torque too.

Fred,
When the first dyno was completed at 300 hp Flywheel the RWHP was 247hp.
See graphs. The 300.2 graph also includes the 330 hp when boost was increased to 1 bar.

So my tranny losses are around 18%

Very consistant with what I've seen, 15-17% drivetrain loss. I've used the dynodynamics dyno many times, very accurate. Same one Farnbacher-Loles uses(d). Seems very reasonable to get 375-400 hp range wth the 'basics'.
