Have pictures of Turbo Twist 9/11x18 on a 930?
I'm looking for a set of cheap 18" wheels and have noticed the price of the Turbo Twists is affordable. They're rather homely I know but I have plans.
![]() What I would like to see is a picture of these on a 930 and some info on dimensions and spacers needed. Thanks! .

IIRC, these are 17's but give you an idea of the look. These are replicas so i don;t believe any spacers were used. Not mine and I haven't heard from the owner since the pic was taken.

Brian,
I know the wheels you are talking about and none of the pictures shown are the ones.. they don't look half bad on 930s if the car is lowered enough... if it sits even the slightest bit too high they look like shyte.. don't kknow why , they just do. |

Thanks for the pix.
Eric is correct, what I am looking for are the factory 18" Turbo Twist wheels. Need info on spacers and general fitment. I also plan to paint the centers black to hide the twist look if I can find an inexpensive set.

Brian, I have a set on my "2 B 993TT" . I can't give you "look", but I can get you BS and spacers. I'm going to remove them for some Works with proper BS for track use. They use ALOT of spacers. Since mines a 993 body, they look fine except the SC brakes that are going in the bin look mighty small. I think its over 3" in rear of spacers for the 18x11 hollow spokes. This is the car I got off Anna (ruff ruff....) and I don't have those pics at work, but if you do a search you might find them. They came to me brand new with Pilot sports on them....sadly I'll be taking off originally quite expensive rims to put on better looking inferior ones. I can't justify BBS Mag's on this machine right after buying Jeff's repro forged Fuch's recently in RSR finish.
I've got 245/295's on her. 295's look tight on the 11's so your taste in big should look great.

I have them on my car.
There's no way cheaper to get 11" rims in the back and for the $ they look good. I don't like the other porsche twist rims, but these look good and the rears are wider. The fronts are 8" wide. I've heard the 2001 996TT rims are solid spoke because BBS didn't have the hollow ones ready for production yet. In '02 or '03 BBS had them and from then on they have hollow spokes. The hollow spoke rears weigh about 6lbs less each and the fronts weigh about 2-3 lbs less each than the solid spokes. I don't know what year your car is or what year suspension is on the front, but a mid 80's car will have a perfect fit with these rims when you put a 1" hubcentric adaptor over the origonal 28mm spacer if you leave the origonal wheel studs installed. My fenders are not rolled, but I do have a little more negative camber on the rears than stock. There is still about 1" clearance between the oil lines on the left rear and the inner tire sidewall. I think you could put 12" rims back there with 315's, maybe even some 335's and still have just enough room without rerouting the oil lines up and over the tire inside the top of the fender well for more clearance. The fronts will take a 1.5" hubcentric adaptor on mid eightees front struts. I've thought about breaking the outer bead of the tires and sanding mine and repainting them gloss black, or a darker silvery grey metallic just so they are different than the rest. I think they'd look good a darker metalic silver color or black against the venetian blue paint. Also thought of leaving the very outer flat 14mm edge silver or polished with a clear coat when doing that but I think that may look a bit cheesy.. You can see the hub adaptors in the first 2 pics when using flash. The silver 930 is a buddies car. I have 315/30 falken Azensis RT 615's on the rear, and 225/40 on the front. Could have probably gone 235/40 or 245/35 on the front, but that also makes steering heavier... There's alot of these around for sale most of the time. I've heard the 996GT2 used 12" rears in this style with solid spokes but I'm not sure of that. ![]() ![]() ![]() Someday I'll loosen and rotate the center caps so they are upright when the valve stem is at 6 o-clock. hth.. |

Hey Brian,
If you are talking about the 1 piece cast turbo twists, Just remember, there were no factory turbo twists for pre-1990 cars(or so I've have been told by several folks "in the know"). Therefore, proper offset for a 1989 or older was never available. I had 17" turbo twists(after market) on mine when I bought it, and they too, were wrong for an early car. My fronts rubbed on the washer tank @ full right & the car tracked a little funny. I had 17 x 7 fronts & 17 x 9 rears @ Euro height, with factory rear spacers. Now I have 17 x 8.5 fronts, 18 x 11 rears with proper offset, no rear spacers & the car is slammed. No rubbing at all, any time & the car tracks beautifully. Simply food for thought! Mark |

Are these what you are talking about? I know it's a 993 but I love this car.

Hey Brian. I took these off ( 18" hollow spoke version ) when they were on my 1977 930 when I bought it a numder of years ago.. Reason, they really jerked the steering wheel around on uneven road surfaces due to the off set. I think the front spacers were 2 1/4 inches and messed with the cars ability to be a nice tracking car to drive.

Thanks for the pix guys!
The sizes are right but the offset looks to be way off as suspected. I'd like to get away from running spacers or adapters in the front. The search for affordable wide 18s continues ...

![]() I got these in 97 if I recall. Wheel enhancement or whatever it was called before that. At the time I could have gone back to Fuchs because I had the cheesey BBS but they didn't have them in 17". So I went with these. Didn't have to change the spacers from what was originally on there. I'm waiting on the Rota Fuchs takeoffs when Jeff Alton gets them in the right size.

Is the handling problem fixable by not running the wider spacers? Or are the spacers necessary for the inside of the wheel/tire to clear the inner fender (or the brake caliper)? I don't see the need for the outer edge to get as close to the outer fender lip as possible, that's just cosmetics to me. But is it possible to have a minimal impact on the scrub radius and still get these to fit?

here is a shot of the pumpkin with her street shoes on 18 TT's. Use spacers front and rear .
If you need the size of them let me know and I'll brave the 5 degree weather and try and measure them. B ![]()

If not, measurements would be awesome. I see your front wheels tuck inside the fenders, that's great and just what I need. But please wait until the temps warm up, I am not in a rush. THANKS!

the big problem with spacers is it puts the center line of the wheel further outboard causing for funky steering and handling. I vote no spacers and thats why I ditched the 7 and 9X16 fuchs a few weeks ago gotts give Jeff a call Brian
