Air Filter for a 1986 930...

Can anyone give me a parts place that actually stocks/can get a NORMAL non-K&N air filter for an 86' turbo?

Everyone and their brother has a K&N, but actually, I have been recommend to get rid of it, and just use a stock/paper filter.

Thanks!

Pelican doesn't have it?
I do internet searches and call certain dealers for parts.
The LA phonebook would be good too.

Just out of curiosity, why were you recommended to get rid of the K&N?
I had a K&N insert in stock airbox and I now have a cone type K&N in there... are they bad?
Thanks
David

Oh God.....here we go. Lots of opinions out there. K&N's are crap, K&N's are gold. Personally I use them on all of my vehicles because I don't believe in use-and-toss mentality. Save the planet, you know?

I also use a K&N in my old ladies, I don't expect a power increase but it simplifies the maintenance and it should have better filter capacities.

OMG, you use a K&N? You should use a BMC, they are 4 times as expensive and work 2 times better. Or you should stay with stock so you can replace it 10 times even though it costs only 1/2 as much.
HAHAHA
I'm just kidding of course. Paper, foam, or cotton, there are people out there who love them and hate each one of them. I put K&N's in when it is convenient to purchase them. Other than that I go paper.
#1 reason people whine about K&N is that they use too much oil and it screws up their MAF sensor. That's not a filter error, that requires a driver mod.
Good thing the 930 doesn't have a MAF... and it already puts more oil through the intake by itself than K&N could ever dream of even if you submerged it over night.
Oh, and to answer your question... you could go to the dealer. But your local FLAPS can probably order it for you too. But you get to keep using the boards if you buy it from Pelican.

Roby, dig around. Here's a theoretically unbiased test that would lead one to not use K&N filters.
K&N Air Filter Review - Debunking the Myths (and why OEM is better)

"Compared to the AC, the K&N “plugged up” nearly 3 times faster, passed 18 times more dirt and captured 37% less dirt. See the data tables for a complete summary of these comparisons."

I'm sure another poster could find a test that would prove the opposite.
(I'm covered- my 930 uses paper and my vintage mustang uses a K&N).

I have a K&N cone on my 930 simply because the gigantic stock air box is always in the way of doing anything. I also put four small breather K&Ns on the subsequently homeless vent lines. I have no particular affinity for the brand , but it sure fits like a glove on the 930.
