Turbo Rebuilders?

Did a search and read some comments from old posts but wanted to see who is currently recommended for a turbo rebuild. I ended up with a K27/7006 in a batch of parts I bought. The 3LDZ on the '86 is getting a little tired so figured the 7006 would be fun to try. Any firsthand recommendations of where to go - or stay away from? Thanks and happy 4 July! -John

I've never used them, but Durabuilt Turbos is considered by many to be the best in the business.

The 7006 is the best overall k27 you can put on there if you like horsepower and want to use a k27.
3K Borg Warner has not made or sold parts for the old 3ldz for a while now.

Call Durabilt Turbo, the number is on this link, http://www.durabilt-turbo.com/ and ask them if they have any parts or will make any parts for it.
There's a few other places you can call and try too.

Ok. Dura-bilt was the name that kept coming up so I will give them a call. Thanks. And, yes, JFairman I have seen where you are quite the 7006 advocate which is part of the reason I'm anxious to give it a try.

For sure. They even did not have a problem getting parts and rebuilding a rare turbo from a 956 in short time and a great price.

I hope Durabuilts service is quicker than their web page:

"At present, our web site is still under construction. Completion date will be circa June 1st 2009."

Just call ( old school way). I have had two rebuilt from them since 2009. I'm a satisfied customer so far of Durabuilt with both turn around time, price and quality of their work.

...i checked a bunch of rebuilders when my k27 went kaput, and ended up sending to lindseys in OK...he farms it out to a rebuilder nearby, but most importantly he stands by that guy...i had my turbo back inside of 10 days - and thats including parts shipment from germany!!!
...and the pricing was what initially helped my decision...

Durabilt is the best in the USA, period.

All the IMSA racing teams that ran turbo porsches in the 70's and 80's like 934, 935, 956, and 962 had their turbo's rebuilt by Durabilt. There was and still is no where better to go.
Kevin Jeanette at Gunnar Porsche Racing recommended them to me when my UMW k27HFS smoke machine needed rebuilding after only 800-1000 miles two times in a row.

They don't need a fancy impressive looking webpage because people in the know just call them.
Their quality, knowledge, and turn around time is faster than anywhere else in the USA and they have and use the ultra expensive computer controlled VSR balancing machine to balance every turbo cartridge assembly that goes through their shop.

When I sent them my K27 HFS they repaired eroded piston ring oil seal lands and upgraded it with a 360 degree thrust bearing in place of the smaller one that was in it.
They called and told me when it was done and it was delivered back to me in just under 2 weeks from when I shipped it to them.
I talked to Bob that works there and knows everything about turbo's.

We'll have disagree on this one, some of the best tuners in the country use them exclusively. Todd Knighton and others. They modified and rebuilt my K24s for my Gt2 (24/18s) and are well known and respected in the 996/997 community. They also have every expensive machine you need to do a perfect flawless job. 2 weeks, turbos are back better than ever.
