no gasket under FD

i pulled the FD and WUR to send to brian. i thought it was odd that there was no gasket under the FD but after looking, it looked to have a machined fitting.
so i just looked it up, looks like there is a gasket for it.
you think there is enough of an air leak past it for it run lean at cruise?
and again, why not lean at idle or is the idle and cruise so seperate that i could richen it up at idle to compensate but not richen the cruise enough?

i want the gasket for the AFM to the intake, but could not find one. help!

There's a little groove around the part that fits into the hole in the top of the air flow meter housing.
An o-ring goes in that groove and thats it, no gasket.
Put a little grease or vasaline on the o-ring to help it slide in and not catch and roll over when installing the fuel ditributor.

there was no Oring.
i could see that the bottom of the FD was machined to fit down in the AFM body. it seemed to be a pretty tight fit, nit sure if tight enough to prevent air leaks.

pelican called it a gasket, not an oring i think, will check again.
still need the AFM gasket. would like to clean it up.

Then the oring is missing.
The thickness of a paper gasket would raise the entire fuel head up a tiny bit and change the air flow meter mechanical linkage ratio a little resulting in a leaner AFR because the control plunger wouldn't be pushed up as far in it's cylinder by the air flow meter linkage.

You can usually get an oring that will fit at hardware stores that carry a selection of them for a fraction of the cost of the one from pelican. Thats what I did but I don't remember the size.

this is what pelican is calling for.

yea, i figuredd a gasket was going to change the mixture, quite a bit. if it is not there, would it mess up the ratio and cause my lean cruise?
