Big Thumbs Up to RARLYL8 (headers & zork content!)

Just want to give thanks to Brian on the forums as I see others do, as I now I know why! I placed an order a while back for headers, zork, tial, and wg dump pipe. All of these things came, got them on and unfortunately my turbo oil return tank was in the way. I called Brian and told him the situation and that I'd like to purchase an oil return tank from him right away, I had one 3 days later, and I'm in Nova Scotia, we're not exactly neighbors!

I couldn't be more happy with the fitment and the sound, OH THE SOUND! The headers really do take it from muscle car, to a tuned sound! Sorry for the crappy video it doesn't do them justice, but you can clearly hear the tone difference with these headers! Stock turbo for now, I will definitely be going back for a larger turbo and IC from RarlyL8!

Thanks Again!

I must be missing the big picture. When I start hearing all those pops and crackles when I lift, I know there is a hole or holes in my muffler. Is that the sound you are going for? I have many holy mufflers that make those sounds. If they can fetch the prices of RarlyL8 mufflers, I'd be glad to ship them out.

Those sounds indicate to me, that my crappy stainless muffler is in need of patching.

I have been looking to purchase a new muffler. How long does a Rarelyl8 muffler last on a street car?

Glad that you like the system and appreciate the props!

I could not load the video so don't know what sounds John is referring to but I am going to guess it is burble on decel. This phenomenon is typically occurs when the decel valve has been disabled or the AFRs are on the lean side. It is covered up by the quiet stock muffler and exposed by more free-flowing mufflers. You can make it go away if not desired.
Our mufflers and headers are 321 stainles and may very well last longer than your car.

I've been toying with getting a Zork but it's tough to tell in the many videos I've watched/heard just exactly how loud it is. Hard to imagine it would be any louder than the GTO I sold to get my 930, but if it were, well, it'd be too loud.

Yes, I found retaining the decel valve keeps the car from popping by keeping the revs up on decel. Can also be done with foot if decel is missing. JMHO

It sounds like the zork scraped on the edge of the road as he was letting out the clutch and starting to come up off the shoulder on to the raised edge of the road.
He hears the scraping and lets up on the gas and pushes the clutch in to reduce the rear squat and scraping.
Then he starts over and scoots off down the road.

The turbo whistle sounds really nice, I love that sound... but a zork is way too loud for a street car for my taste.
Would be too loud for my neighbors too and I don't want to have pissed off neighbors.

What about your neighbors that have Harleys? I don't think Harley owners have the same level of compassion.

Yeah, I hear ya...
Luckily the closest Harley farm machinery is a block away.

I just have to deal with little dogs that are into recreatrional barking next door.
It's important to be friendly and nice to your neighbors no matter what though. You may need their help someday and it just makes life better to be nice to them.

Now there is a real answer that I can believe.

I have always been stock and when the burbling on decel starts making the pops, it usually meant a new muffler was in order.

To the others, (tough crowd)....

So a RarelyL8 muffler would last a very long time on an otherwise stock street 930? (My previously purchased SS mufflers would only last 5-6 years).

Thanks for not flaming me, as it is indeed a real question, and I am currently looking for a new muffler as mine has developed holes in the seams.

Perhaps the guy suggesting the muffler tape has used a muffler like the one I currently have on the car....

Yes 321 S/S is more heat resiliant than typical 304 stainless. It is a more proper material for turbocharged applications. For the street 304 will last a reasonable amount of time if welded correctly. Track use will reduce 304's life considerably.
You will be surprised at how your engine wakes up with a free flowing muffler. The experience is more than just the 12WHP we can claim on paper. Reduced threshold, quicker throttle responce, and all those cool turbo sounds (even the decel burble, ha!).

Johnman...

I've run Brian's dual-out Hooligan for many years / miles now on mine that I commute frequently with - the sound / look / flow / quality / service is just awesome - you'll love the change.

To the others... really? Lighten up, Francis(es) 8-).

and I'm with Jim... Zork's rule but not sure I'd want one for the usage my car gets. Plus WOT poker face non-existant d'oh... heh heh heh...

Pops... even w/ the decel valve you'll get pops if lean. Without one the pops aren't too much, like they were when mixture was off.

anyway, enjoy / HTH

No zork for me, but I am looking at another offering from RarlyL8

It will be for the white car.
