Z-Codes / Special Wishes - effect on value?

Hey,

I have an '86 930 with about 35k km's on the clock and it has below Z-Codes which are checked from PAG-system.

I don't have plans to sell the car but I was just wondering about the potential "value" - if any - of the car being a special wishes car vs. normal / non-special wishes car. Even though it's only interior stuff and not the desired slant / more powerful engine.

Any insight / thoughts on this?

I did try to search but didn't find anything...and I have posted same question on rennlist & 6-speed as well but no answers yet - hence posted this here also.

0658 - Colour Pearleffect - White - Herbol 947
0030 - Front- and rear seat only in combination with Code 98/9 or 94/ 95
full leather
0209 - Full leather interior package in individual colour - see enclosed
sketch - only with interior 98
0830 - steering wheel/ hub cushion/ impact absorber leather pearl white -
leather in individual colour 99
0546 - sun visors in leather pear white (mirror covered)
0744 - roof liner in leather grey-green (standard colour) with A- and
B-column (leather in individual colour pearl white)

Here's a pic of the car for reference.

I think it may be a little more than a regular 930, but the cosmetic upgrades will have to be something the buyer really wants. For collectors, the most important thing is condition of your car, low mileage and originality.

Don't know about usa but in oz you'd get anywhere from 70-85k for it, which is wierd against the American $70000k AUS = $66780 US

With the front side reflector on the fender and the nice rubber thing in bumper where the USA front side reflector is I guess it's a european car. Or something.
Sure does look nice.

Hi,

it is a RoW car which has been originally delivered to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates when new. Supposedly it was ordered by one of the princes who belong to Abu Dhabi ruling family and his brother ordered a 911 Turbo also but with red exterior and red interior; the red car was totaled as per the story.

I have no idea whether or not the story is true or not but it could be as I used to live in Dubai, UAE where I bought the car from - currently the car resides in Europe. It does have extensive history / documentation along with the car but name of the 1st owner is not there. Perhaps I could ask from AD Porsche if they have any info about this car. (edit: I did send an email to them - let's see how co-operative they are...)

Anyways the point was to check the potential value of the Special Wishes interior bits and bobs.

I'd say definitely yes, as it has added value for a few accumulative reasons. Factory "pearl effect" paint & interior bits/pieces out of normal production options/colours, trim in leather have already been special ordered/optioned when new, save for plenty who have removed/replaced factory items, I'd have to say these parts are getting less likely to show up, like say, at flea markets & swap meets, and if they ever do, I'll bet they'll command greater dollars compared to more available common items of same. As mentioned, for example, a factory original "pearl effect" leather steering wheel (whether liked by the masses or not) is just simply not a commonly/mass produced option, just as an example that can be repeated in the other little niceties that set them selves apart from main stream, massively chosen options. Just my experience & two cents, I for one would gladly seek out & pay a little more for uncommon factory original options . neat package you've got there, real leather visors, oddity of a headliner colour combo. , ROW to boot, nice....

Thanks for the comment, appreciate it.

Perhaps the car has some added value to some individuals who are looking for something a little more rare? Paint to sample and interior to sample as a combination appears to be quite rare - this was a comment I got at Rennlist.

I guess potential added value of the special wishes interior goes more or less case by case as there aren't that many 930's with only special wishes interior options for sale so it would be hard to compare prices against each other.

I'll try to take some pictures of the interior later on and I'll post them here.

Leather has faded in some areas due to the sun in UAE; I've obtained proper leather paint from Furniture Clinic (Furniture Clinic - Leather Care Cleaner, Furniture Repair & Restoration) based on a sample. (I sent an ashtray for them to make the paint) This is a project I will undertake during the long and dark winter

I was planning to make some mods to the car such as header, bigger turbo, larger IC but I have came to my senses and I'll keep this 100% stock.

The car is currently in Finland.

It all depends what you want out of the car. As an investment, it is best to keep it stock. For fun, mod it anyway you want and enjoy it. I've had stock garage queens and both of them are back in Germany. They were fun, but my modded 86 was way more fun to drive and without worrying if anything will happen to it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The buyers may be rarer for special optioned 930s but if the goal is resale, best to leave it as original as possible, including slightly worn or faded interior if you can do a minor touch up instead of redying the whole thing. As with antique collectables, the more original the more sought after and valuable, is definitely becoming more popular with the high end concours. Now as far as using a 930 ( for some ), the mods are in the sky is the limit category, especially if mechanical performance is similar to the factory 934 - 935 builds ( built to be fast but not last).

Driveability and performance are greatly improved by the upgrades you have listed, and they can be purely bolt-on items should you wish to return the car to 100% stock condition.

Like I mentioned I am not planning to sell the car currently. Just curious about the potential added value of the "rarity" of the car.

It's a bit of a bummer in a sense to have a low mileage car as the value is in the low mileage (less than 22k miles currently) and in the originality of the car. Yes; the mods I listed are bolt on -> easy to remove mods, but what's the point of the mods if the car won't be driven

Of course to a certain degree I am concerned about the value of the vehicle and I'm not intentionally planning to do things which will lower the value considerably. I guess 930's are finally getting a bit more appreciation they deserve.

I guess I will have to look for a high(er) mileage car to really enjoy driving a slightly modded 930. Oh well.

If you are going to drive her, I'd get some seat and dash covers to protect/preserve the unique colored leather.
