* Killer Chris *

I rather have a toy, that I can enjoy. A significant rare Porsche belongs in the museum.

Interesting power curve on that cam, Chris.

If it isn't proprietary, would love to know the lift, lobe separation and duration specs to compare at-idle dynamic compression. I built a calculator in Excel years ago to compare cams in this regard. I find it nominally useful to plot unknown cams against known configurations to predict knock characteristics, given a static compression value and target boost level.

Running errands yesterday out at the country house. I happened to fall in behind a Carrera GT. Holy sheet that thing sounds otherworldly. Now where did I put that $400k? I want me one of those!

Dude it wont be long when youll be able to straight swap your 930 for one the way prices are going,
Still wouldn't be worth it though, a 930 is a sweeter car than a Carrera GT, well comfort wise it is .

Actually there's already one in the Museum a green one
The rest can be used for what they were made for,

Sort of a notable project... traveling back from TurboPalooza '14 some may recall I struck a deer in upstate NY. I made a wise decision in driving about 90 miles to Automobile Associates in CT for the repairs. While the damage appeared minimal compared to many deer strikes, the car did need a new hood and valance from Porsche. Ken Bronsord there could not have been more helpful and communicative, working with Grundy insurance (who also gets two-thumbs up here) and the adjuster to arrive at a great outcome.

The car was sanded down and resprayed from the front bumper to the doors. After seeing the incredible results when I got the car back, my wife wise-cracked that I should back into the next deer. ;)

^^^That came out very nice sir. As for the wheels are those Kenisis? If yes then what brand and model are the center caps on the wheels? I'm thinking about getting a set of center caps for my Kenisis wheels but don't want to pay $25 for each plastic Kenisis wheel caps.

SAY - 642 09-25-2014 05:59 AM

They did a nice job ! +1 Grundy Insurance

speednme1 09-25-2014 07:09 AM

Ken that came out great. That first pic has the perfect look for next years calendar;)

gsxrken 09-25-2014 05:38 PM

Thanks guys. It did come out great, and it's so nice to see the front nose chip-free after all these years. I may get a clear bra treatment and keep it that way.

MikeD- the rims and center caps are Forgelines but I don't recall the model and couldn't say if they'd fit your rims. I could dig it up if you needed it but IIRC they were not cheap.

Where did you source the clear marker lenses? Philip

Here's a mod I did a couple of months ago that resulted in the ballshrinking temps you see in the second pic (GM blower motor, insulated evaporator box with fiberglass muffler packing, Rennaire evaporator, high side pressure switch, new ducting, insulated the areas where the ducting/hoses pass through the front trunk, etc). I also have a Zims fender condenser that I've been using for several years.

That temp is with only 85 ambient, but in 98 ambient I get 29 degrees.

I wonder if the "stock stock stock, or else" guys consider vastly improved a/c to be a bastardization of the car?

PS - the birdage is for Paul, buttofcourse!

That is an awesome mod in the Texas heat.

Update.

I finally got my Kremer style front valance mounted. In addition I mounted up my new CCW Classic's which are gloss black lips and hyper black centers. 11.5" rears with 4.5" lips. I like the look so far.

Chris

I love the look!..are you installing a front oil cooler next?..btw no rubbing with the 11.5" width?...

Hams930T 10-04-2014 06:56 PM

Front mount yep. I used the opportunity to go ahead and get my valance mounted up since I had to take to my body shop for the aero mod I did to the rear fender back in July. I figured since it was there might as well get the valance knocked out too.

No rubbing on the 11.5's at all. 0 et and they fit easily. I could have probably run a -3 to -5 et and still not hit the fender. However.... If I were to run something like the Toyo R888's I bet they would rub since they're a little wider.

Notable recent garage modification projects

Thanks to KrasuskyP for hooking me up with these nice prints for decorating the man cave, and to Citrus for the frames. Just in time for winter projects.

Pics of 2 out of the 3 prints.
