Do I have a Factory Slant?

I'm the proud owner of an '87 930. However, the production completion date was 11/14/1986. After reading the Slant/M505 Thread, I checked out my car. Is it a factory slant...or just a really good aftermarket slant install?

A. Rounded Headlamps...Yes.
B. Center headlight control with rocker arms going to each headlight...Yes.
C. Headlight washer reservoir inside the front wheel well, driver's side...Yes.
D. An Oil Line in the trunk on passenger's side? Not that I can tell.
E. Do I have a M505 Code? Not that I can tell from the sticker on the inside of the hood...but would this apply since the production date was 11/14/86?

My VIN is WP0JB0932HS050443. When I ran my VIN through the Porsche Decoder (see below), Item 12 lists the car as a "930-911 Turbo/(S/SE Flachbau 3.3 Ltr 330 bhp)"

Why would you question the realism of the car?

I'm hopeful it is a factory slant...but wanted to submit to the forum for expert thoughts/confirmation.

who cares - gorgeous car 8-)

is that Carmine Red? Appears to be a bit more brown / burnt than the redred of Indishrot or the orange red of Guards. If so, it'd be only the 2nd one I've ever seen... veryveryvery cool color...

regardless - congrats / enjoy...

Slant mechanisms are factory. Do you have an oil cooler in the rear passenger fender?

Carmine red, yes. I don't feel an oil filter in rear passenger fender (I felt behind the fins).

Here is option code under hood. Clearly, no 505 code. However, was that code used on 930s that were completed in 1986? As noted above, my car's completion date was 11/14/86.

Option 505 may not be found on the '86 model. One we service is an '86 with all the original paperwork. Zero doubt of authenticity as it was purchased at Barrett-Jackson. No 505 code.

You in the USAF by chance? My brother spent the better part of his career in Ardmore fixin C130's.

I believe the 505 code started in 1987 m.y. You might have something special as I don't think USA was able to get the good engine package.

Exhaust looks correct and engine should have the bigger intercooler w gold decal. Someone had pull to get that 330 hp option I have to think, what state was it delivered in?

Very cool car!!

I'm not in the USAF..but that would be cool. I can't find a gold decal on the IC (could it have fallen off)? Not sure where the car was originally titled. My records go back to 1992 when it was in Florida with 12k miles. Only has 36k miles on it now.

Don't worry I just checked your info and based upon my high level of expertise I can say that your car is a

Yellow 1963 volkswagon with a 2.0 litre engine and 3 speed gearbox that has undergone very nice modifications,

Actually does anyone know where there is a Porsche VIN decoder for older models with ?? ive yet to find one

You are correct Robbbyg. I purchased this car from the guy who made that ebay post. He also assumed it wasn't a factory slant since it didn't have the 505 Code....but now I'm discovering that the lack of a 505 code is not the ultimate deciding factor.

As I mentioned in my initial post, it seems I have some components on my 930 which may make it a factory slant...but I'm not entirely for sure. That's why I posted for thoughts from the gurus.

Good job Rob! When you tire of welding you should become a detective.

Sooner check out the link below if you have not already.

Slantnose, Slant nose,Slope, M505 factory 930S documents, registry, ultimate,flachbau

There are a few guys around who know these cars very well and will chime in I'm sure.

Conversion or whatever, you have high quality parts there and the motor package is awesome.

It could be a factory slant, but it's not the 330hp version. Whenever you plug in a 930 on that decoder, it lists the engine as such.
A sw car might have a front oil cooler and no fender well unit.
Get a coa from porsche, it will clearly tell you if it's real.
