I've read nothing but good things since it's smoother engaging than organic, is slightly grippier than organic, and does not wear a flywheel out like organic or matallic. What don't you like?? |
Kevlar is plastic, and it is great material for smooth engagment. But if you overpower them they tend to heat up and smear on the flywheel surface. There is metallic in the Kevlar matrix which is the same as organic lining. The smear wears off during normal use, but if your combination is in the upper HP limit of the Kevlar disc it will suffer as far as clamping is concerned. At that point if your making good HP, but don't want the instant off/on performance of a puck (sintered bronze) disc, you have to opt for a heavy metallic organic lining. Yes, it wears out the flywheel. But then again you want HP...... Smooth Toyota like clutch and BIG HP does not go in the same sentence.

The original owner had a 6-puck disc. Milled the FW like butter.

I'll probably go it again since it's only $250. If it craps out again, I'll go metallic I guess. What got me into Kevlar, was reading VW Bug drag racers claiming they use Kevlar since it bites harder, doesn't overheat easy, and does not wear out a FW. |
