Why are the bone-stock 930's commanding ungodly prices?
That seems to be the trend, or has it always been that way?
|
Peoples preferred a virgin over heavily touched sample. My guess. :-)

It's interesting that no one (well, few anyway) ask this question of a `70 Hemi Cuda versus a resto-mod version of the very same car.
I've modded my 930 and fully expect to get less out of it, when and if I sell it, primarily because it's different than what the engineers originally designed and the craftsmen originally assembled. |

There are exceptions when a nicely modified car is what an enthusiast would rather have though. |
You just can't beat the real thing.

stock 930 sucks just like all bone-stock sports cars from that era, with all of the crap emissions equipment. the only people overpaying for these are looking for garage queens or are speculating on the 930 market.

when buying 3 years ago I wanted stock because:
1. I wanted to be able to have it run and work on it when it didnt with factory books and manuals. Even with Bentley you have to read and translate to 930 engine and trans half the time and I'm not smart enough to add in 5 more non stock variables when troubleshooting. 2. If top performance was my #1 goal i would not have bought a 930, or any air cooled. 3. I figured modded= stressed and there are VERY few that are and have always been stock with records to back it up. I didn't consider "back to stock" the same as always stock. 4. Bone stock also tends to be lower miles, less enjoyed and yes, maybe somebody elses garage queen. 5. I started looking at modded ones because stock was harder to find, but there are so many different options each car was apples to oranges comparison with what was modded, quality of the equipment, quality of installation all of which I had to see in person. stock is stock. Now that i know the car much better I love stock but am much more open to mods on my next one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm about to do those traditional mods folks talk about. B&B Headers, K27 turbo, BL Wur and long neck intercooler.
I'm hoping that will wake her up a bit. |

Opps missed the bottom of the red TT and mngt system. If a 100 extra HP is nice why not a couple of hundred more? .http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1416447600.jpg

After that comment. That red one came from Texas Now I know why it is what it is. Here is a dyno sheet from before we enlarged the fuel delivery capability. Was running lean so had to shut it down. I'd sell most of my stock ones to keep these.:)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1416448388.jpg

You know why bone stock collector cars command the highest prices, because they are unmolested and unused. May as well have the wooden engine that came in the prototype Porsche put on display. That car is likely THE most valuable 930 on the planet.
Now can we PLEASE get back to the tech forum and move this jibberish to the collectors forum? |
