problem w/ the RennAire Nippondenso to Sanden 507 adoptor kit

Hi,

I converted my original Nippondenso AC compressor to a Sanden 507 in my 89 930. I ordered the RennAire Adoptor plate kit from our host. The kit came w/ the adoptor plate, bolts ,nut, washers and V Belt. My mechanic thought it was a straight forward installation. We encountered a problem , one of the bolt head of the base of the Sanden compressor was hitting the intake manifold preventing the mechanic from adjusting the tension of the V belt. What he did was to grind the head of the offending bolt to have a paper thin clearance so that the appropriate adjustment for the V belt tension can be done. Other than that no other problems were encountered. My car is bone stock .If the car was a 3.2 Carrera or is a carburated model I think there wont be a problem. The finish of the plate is coarse aluminum, almost the same as the original for the ND compressor but w/ a less coarser finish. I would suggest that Renn Aire should make a adoptor plate specific for the 930.

I had to do the exact same thing and have had to that with other after market things. Didn't bother me either.. it's common to have to adjust some after market things like that.
You could also remove a little metal from that area of the intake manifold. You don't see that area when the compressor is installed anyway.
