Sunday Morning Hill Climb

Took my brother for a ride this morning up one of the mountains in my neighborhood. He videos everything so took one of the ride. Poor quality but fun to share. You cannot tell from the video but this road is very steep with no side roads and no shoulders. You make a mistake you crash. So I played it very careful with him in the car. Interesting how differently the car handles and performs with an extra 200lbs in it, ha!

Crazy how video distorts reality. That doesn't even look like the same road. The elevation is very steep, looks flat on video. Curves are extremely tight, looks slow on the video.
Conclusion: cell phone videos suck.
I've got a go-pro but haven't taken the time to figure out how it works. It doesn't have a screen so you cannot see what you are filming which is stupid. I think the new ones changed that error.
Anyway, yes Jim my neighborhood is an absolute blast! I'm from the flatlands of IL so you can imagine my delight when seeing these mountains for the first time (I was expecting cotton fields and marshes). I'll never forget when I brought my family down here for the first time and drove through a cut out in the mountain; my son (who was 4 at the time) said "daddy who made these walls out of rock?" Ha!

Here is the trip down the other side of the mountain. Too dangerous to take at any speed, you'd scare the oncoming guy $hitless!

Does the roads have 'Share the road" with bicyclist? I hate that especially on roads like yours (no shoulders and curvy tight turns). Nice driving.

We have lots of bicycle trails in our many state and local parks that are incredible. Most stay there. You'd have to have a death wish to ride up and down this mountain on a bike. I've never seen one. My personal rule for carving the mountains is to not speed where there are cross roads and never get out of my lane in a corner. I don't see how fast I can go but rather how much fun I can have within those limits. Most of the mountain roads I drive are 1st and second gear with the 930. Posted yellow "suggested" speed limits of 25mph. Brakes work incredible going up hill!
What camera comes closest to capturing the authentic feel of driving? I would love for you to experience the drive like you are in the car, it's awesome!
Jim if you ever venture up north we'll go for a ride.
