86 930 Sitting for 3 years

My 930 has been sitting for 3 years. What to do before charging the battery and attempting to start? Any lists would be most welcomed... thanks.

1. drain oil and fill with nice fresh oil
2. remove air cleaner and check for rodent nest
3. pull the coil wire from the dist
4. crank over a few times each time a bit longer to build up oil pressure
5. listen for fuel pumps humming (front and rear)
6. reattach coil wire
7. fire her up
8. if it runs ok I would try to get fresh gas in it as possible and use high quality injector cleaner (I like CHEMTOOL cheap at Walmart) in the tank to keep everything from clogging. Alternatively, you want to drain the tank first and put in some fresh gas with injector cleaner.

Before actually driving you may want to:

8. remove wheels and remove brake pads and exercise the pistons by removing one pad at the time. Only 1-2 small pushes on the pedal should push the piston out far enough. To be safe place a big wrench between the rotor and brake piston to act like a stop and also to use to leverage the piston back in. The idea is to do this several times with each piston to make sure they are free. If they sit for a long time they may get a bit stuck and that is no fun. Simple process should take 1 hr max. No need to open bleed nipple.

9. Be gentle on first few runs. Check for oil/ gas leaks. Once you are "comfortable" that it is running ok...happy times.

After 3 years I would recommend draining the fuel tank and changing the fuel filter. Disconnect the fuel inlet to the fuel head and let the pumps run new fuel through the lines to that point. Re-connect and run the pumps again to flush new fuel through the head and WUR.

Yes change oil and brake fluid. Tranny should be OK.

If the gasoline smells like varnish, you might find it worthwhile to remove the gas tank and take it to a radiator shop for a hot dip cleaning. Inexpensive. New gas filter, fresh oil, and brake fluid flush, as brake fluid is hydrophilic.

I had an old VW that the tank was empty ,

I hooked up an electic pump in the back taking the stock pump out of the loop,
put a filter in front of the pump and one after the pump, and ran it to a 1 gallon gas can.

poured fresh fuel in the tank and pumped it out into the can , then put the filtered fuel back in the tank and repeated 3-4 times .

this was to flush the lines that go thru the chassis and get some of the old gunk / dirt off the tank bottom......

probably would have been better if I added some cleaner to the fresh fuel before I started.

I would be worried about clogging the injectors , so even if you clean the tank , flush the lines....

One caution on the above:

Same here, PM and Emails but no response. I am looking for a car to build a track RSR clone and this would be perfect. I would drive up tommorrow and pick it up if anyone knows how to contact him.

This whole thing sounds a little fishy. Three posts 2 about getting it running 7 years ago then it appears in the for sale section. Hopefully I am wrong and someone gets a 930 for a great price.
