78 930 outlaw project

I have been working on this for about 1-1/2 years - getting close.

I will post complete pics as I finish up. Long build - started with a rolling chassis. Repainted it and started the mods. Unfortunately for my check book - the slippery slope ended up more like a cliff.

Anyway - here is my center twin tip exhaust with an added drone tube
One more final fitment check then off to be ceramic coated

That's cool but the wastegate dump is going into the flow of the exhaust? It would be better to go into the actual split outlet no?
That looks like a mistake but I'm no expert on exhaust flow characteristics. It's like a creek flowing into another one bashing into one another instead of joining at the same direction.

Wow, that's a pretty slick design & execution. Neat with the detailed BUTTressing, and the drone tube could prove brilliant. I'm curious to hear it when you debut.

the tightness of the 180 concerns me somewhat, moreso the WG merge. Not a bad idea to dump there, but my gut says I'd like more confluence than it literally blasting away @ the exhaust in opposite direction as Brando notes.

Tx fer sharin, & glw rest of yer build. Exciting stuff.

So The tube is to get rid of drone in the exhaust?
Interesting

Looks nice. This might help next project. I keep several sizes in stock for tight situations....

Looks familiar ...
The drone tube should not be necessary as these single inlet mufflers do not drone.

That's his anti-drone tube you're looking at, quattrohummer - reminds me of the Bisimoto (sp?) pulse chamber exhaust/muffler.

Exhaust looks very well made, Mr. MRM - nice work!

thanks for the posts guys - really appreciated

sometimes this can be a rough crowd (LOL)

I can not take credit for the welds - I have a local guy who is about to branch off and do his own car related products. The drone tube was his idea - if it is not needed - no harm, no foul - just a few more bucks spent on the exhaust

Hey Chris,
Just sent you an order for the 044 front fuel pump - then off to start the engine.

Interior is complete and being shipped from Classic 9 leather in Michigan. Bob does fabulous work.

Working on this a few hours during the week and about 10-12 hours over the weekend doesn't get as far when you take 3 steps forward and 5 back. All of the mods that I have done, obviously were never with or installed on the roller - so it is a fluid project.

I will post a few pics

some of the upholstery

-Door and quarter panels are white with white stitch
-Seats (front and back) are black with basketweave seats and white french stitch on the leather - black stitch on the basketweave.

I also installed stitched leather in lieu of the carpet on the interior except at the floor. That is the plush carpet with leather boarder.

Since this started as a rolling chassis from Phoenix (Chris of TurboKraft knows all about the history of this one - LOL), and it was a steel slant conversion properly fitted and completed, I decided to make this a 930 slant outlaw of sorts.

One of my ideas was a full console - part 930S but extends to the back seating ledge and covers the auto-heat unit with a hinged door for access to the controls. After 3 prototypes and too many hours of fitting - I finally completed it and it was shipped with the rest of my interior to Bob at Classic 9. The console inserts will house 5-2" gauges with white face, center A/C vent (complete front to back new Griffiths A/C unit), seat belt and an open storage area for phone, etc. The gauges are: Head Temp, Voltage, Clock, Air/fuel ratio and one more that I can't remember right now (LOL)

The console has an aluminum main frame with 1/8" forming plywood skins. Aluminum L-channel acts as a stiffener along and as an attachment rail for the inserts. The inserts are 1/8" black ABS plastic cut and heat formed to fit the form. The center insert with the emergency brake opening and cut-out for the auto heat hinged door access was very difficult. But after the final glue-up - it is really quite strong.

Some of the pics show my use of leather in lieu of carpet on the side sills. this continues around the footwell, rear seating area and face of the rear seat platform. The only carpet in this build is at the floor - so only 4 pieces. Of course I had to have them banded with a leather boarder.

Hope you like the design:
