Distributor help

I have a 78 930 with Bosch distributor I was checking the vac adv I notice nothing moving inside both adv and retard hold vac . How does the vac adv work or is mine stuck ? I thought the outer ring pickups moved but not sure

With the vacuum canister removed, the outer plate with the coil on it, should rotate it very smoothly.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but the advance/retard movement/shaft can get rusty and not rotate...Or just rotate, minimally. Are you holding on to the rotor and attempting to move it one way or the other and it is not rotating? If so, dirt and/or rust may be limiting its movement. To begin with, try shooting some WD 40 on it and attempt to manually rotate it. Give it a little time to penetrate/loosen and try manually rotating it, again. If this isn't what you are talking about, try to explain better.

Here is what I was talking about. The plate that the pickup coil (reluctor) and the teeth shown should move super-smooth, like it is on ball bearings.

It was stuck I soaked with wire dryer 40 then lubed now moving free thanks for the help
