a father / son project

Well, Since I wanted to protect my son's hearing... AND have meaningful conversation with him while in the pcar, I decided to make use of my DC aviation headsets....

Wired and installed a Sigtronics aircraft intercom system into the center console. Has a 3.5mm jack to hook my Android into, so we can also listen to music. When either of us talk, the music is muted some, and we can hear each other perfectly!! I bought the intercom system from Aircraft Spruce and Specialty in Peachtree City, GA.

Took about 3 hours to complete (including cutting the carbon fiber panel)...

My son loves it!!!!!!!

^^^

No doubt about that!

And BigBrad, when you are ready to really go pimp-style, Bose makes some sweet, noise canceling aviation headsets that are very comfy on the ears and cranium, too (extremely nice miked sound and excellent noise cancellation, as well).

Very cool. Great setup for the track days too.
Watch out if you're passing through NY, though. There's a traffic law here that says one ear must be uncovered while driving. Had a colleague get a ticket for listening to iTunes earbuds on his way up to Montreal F1- state trooper passed him and saw the white earbuds, dropped behind him and pulled up alongside on the right hand side, saw the other earbud and pulled him over.

To Carpetburned-Knees point, I use the Bose NC headphones now and then anyway for long trips. These cars have a lot of wind noise at cruising speed and they take the edge off that and the exhaust.
