New toy arrived in France - DP935

Hello folks,

Just wanted to share with you a pic of my new Miami Vice toy that just arrived home.
I'm currently overseas for work and look forward to get back home and get my hands dirty to have this bad boy running.

Car have not been running for many years, been told that engine has just been overhauled before storage and not even fired once.
Looks that injection and ignition have to be completely gone through...

If anybody has ever seen that one, any information is welcome as I know only very few things about the history of it...

Some more pics (some already posted in other thread) that I have from my fiend visit at seller's place...
Yes, I've bought it sight unseen knowing just from the pics that a lot of issues are going to need attention... Now wondering about what I'm going to discover...

Interior, seats and dash pad from a later MY, car is 1982:

One of the element that helped pulling the trigger for the purchase:

Along with the custom gauge specially the 935 boost gauge...

And the large IC:

Looks good - curious as to why it was rebuilt and never started afterwards!

Well, looks like the car had a complicated history...
Bought it to a dealer that seemed to ignore everything from the car...
From the title get the contact of the previous owner that was a garage...
From what the owner of the place told me, previous owner ran out of money and the garage took the car in payment 7 years or so later and sold it as it is...

Very cool, "Miami Vice toy" (as you called it) . Personally, I think they look much better with super wide BBS wheels, rather than those 1990's era ones on there now, and it's hard to believe that someone put "comfort seats" in a car like that.

Car will definitely get 9 and 13x15 got a set of Fuchs that I will have widened...
Interior is I guess from the time of DP conversion as its matching custom leather job on the console and the boost regulation valve.
Car has been imported in USA in 1987 that could match with a conversion date in this era.
I'm lurking on lollipops seats but I like the fact that the car looks mostly untouched from the time it left DP workshop... Well... For now ...

Thanks you guys, more pics are coming soon, but you'll have to be patient...
I got it for 8 month and haven't seen it in real yet... Purchased it from hand phone visio call inspection...

In 3 weeks from now I'll be home for 2 weeks with the objective of getting it started...
So 3 weeks to order whatever parts I may need for that...

Some fuel lines are disconnected from the FD, so I go on full fuel system overhaul:
Bosh 044 pumps, accumulator, filter, head rebuild kit, WUR rebuild kit...

Brian, I tried to contact the other Brian for an adjustable WUR, waiting his answer. I anyway don't think its feasible to get mine done in this time frame unless you guys have cores for sale.

As for getting new injectors, I'll go for 3.6 ones as I believe that their higher flow will allow me to run lower system pressure, thus more sensitivity in air flow sensing...

On ignition side, distributor cap is broken in 4 pieces (why?) and I don't want to discover later that I have something else not working so I'll get all new system as well:
123 ignition Tune+ (need a CCW gear), MSD 6AL CDI and coil...

All the rest I think I can get within few days from european vendors so I'll see when in front of the car.

Congrats! I have owned a few of the DP 935's and always thought they were the best!

[QUOTE=930cabman;9235426]Is this the former Mario Andretti ride? /QUOTE]

Nope. This K2 race body designed 935 was built for Mr. Andretti to his specifications by Kremer GMBH in 1984 for street use, as seen in photos below. Sort of a retro build as the K2 race configuration 935 body design was formerly used for 70s competition 935s by Kremer Racing for Vaillant entries ( and others). I am currently looking into a 1976 935 Kremer Vaillant for a client. So much for my planned retirement a few years ago.

1976 K2 bodied Kremer Vaillant similar body style as the retro 84 Kremer above. Unlike DP, Kremer is a brand primarily associated with many years of successful achievements in international competition, including 1st and 3rd in Le Mans in 1979 with their 935s.
