78 turbo

Wanting to tap into the brains trust.
And with that does anyone have an idea as to how many 1978 930s may be left in circulation?

Upon researching I have found there to have been 1257 1978 930s produced.
Would 50% loss rate be too much or not enough after 38years.
As this would leave around 630 vehicles left.

Fifty-percent attrition seems high.

78 turbo

Attrition for 930s is generally thought to be 30% to 35% but the 1975 to 1979 cars had the lowest value of all 930s for years. They were often bought by those who could not keep the cars running. These cars sat in back yards not running and were often parted out, turned into club racers or modified mules. The first things to go are the interior and the 3.3 turbo engine. Often replaced with a NA 3.0 or 3.2.

Attrition on 75,76,77,78,79 930s might have reached 40%

Would not be surprised if RoW cars had 40% attrition.

Ugh

How would anyone know...there are registry for these cars, I think.

I have a 1966 Porsche 912 ....and on the 912 registry it shows all the 1966 cars people put on there by VIN....I have seen dealers advertise only 200 know to exist...BS...

And three of those four are highly modified!

Great point, though - any "percent remaining" number thrown around is as much of a wildassedguess as saying "four".

I would have to think that there would be no Japan delivered 930s left from the 70s as the emission controls would have seen to that.

0001-0010 were crash test vehicles, they obviously didn't make it to the market place.

There are two 930's being restored in the shop now having S/N under 100.

Lots of these cars pulled out from behind the barn in the last few years. Probably more survived than you would think, the 930 was not some cast away soccer mom mobile.
