Fuel pressure regulators
I'm slowly stacking stuff for E85 EFI and fpr is something I have not yet purchased.
Has anyone used https://www.amazon.com/AEM-25-302BK-Adjustable-Pressure-Regulator/dp/B002YXCT82 this before? It is e85 rated and a lot cheaper than turbosmart and fuel lab units and I can get it locally for a good price too. My return will be AN6 so the port sizes match too. I also considered modded bosch units but they tend to have 8mm barbed connections so teflon lines wont seal well with those. For injectors I'm leaning towards local flow mached set of deka 870cc injectors.

I use this one. The one that you referenced looks to be a direct replacement for Honda/Acura . It also does not specify whether not it's a rising rate fuel pressure regulator Anna you definitely need that

It is 1:1 rate. Mixed reviews on both of those units on amazon. Aem leaks? Aeromotive too small and fluctuates?

horsepower goals will determine your injector size. I would personally go with a 1000cc for e85. As far as the aeromotive unit it has worked flawlessly with gas and e85. Wouldn't feel warm and fuzzy on boost with a questionable fpr

I am running 60lb/hr Siemens deka injectors, and I am hitting 85% duty cycle running 10lbs of boost on e85. I am going to upgrade to 80lb/hr injectors soon

While the deka injectors were the ones to go to back in the day significant changes have been made.1000 cc injectors from injector clinic or injector dynamics are far superior. The old thinking was the big injectors had terrible idle quality and were only good for track cars is a thing of the past. Get the bigger ones. They are extremely stable at lower pulse widths and so what if at 1-1.2 bar your duty cycle is only 45%. Deka is old school especially the 60s terrible idle characteristics, very popular with the gt40 guys back in the day but couldn't get em to idle for crap

I can get a flow tested set deka 80# locally half the price of imported ID1000s (customs and tax) so that is a big deal for me. If they run out of DC then its relatively easy to upgrade. For reliability the bosch FPRs are proven units but the worm hose connections is not so nice being over or close the engine. But I might still go that route but install it on the firewall.

The aeromotive is the one I am using. Static pressure set at 55#

Sorry for this irrelevant young, can you to tell me please, during your passage by running E85 did you protect from the corrosion the inside of your combustion chamber? Special coating? This doubt prevents me from taking the plunge to pass later to this type(chap) of fuel, I am very tempted but I am afraid for the reliability of my engine. Thanks. ![]() |

Hi Smurf,
We've had the "opportunity" to test many of these. Translation: tried them, wasted a lot of time and money when parts didn't work as advertised... Some feedback from our experience: * We've had no problems with Siemens Deka 60#/660cc injectors, nor the 80#/880cc, used them for 15+ years. Many newer engine management systems want all the performance data on an injector at all voltage levels, and I've not seen that info published by Siemens directly, only from independent players. I suspect that having incorrect info on injector performance values in the EFI setup is what contributes to many people saying the do not idle well. Contrast that with Injector Dynamics (ID), for example, who gives you *all* data on their injectors, making EFI setup easier and driveability better. Add that they are sold in flow-matched sets -- you can see where the value comes in despite the higher price. All ID injectors that are stainless steel are made specifically for them by Bosch Motorsports, and are 100% ethanol compatible. Many other injectors are not rated for ethanol, and some outright advise against use with ethanol. If you are planning on running more than 500whp on e85, I recommend at least a 1,000cc injector. ID1300s easily support 600whp with modest fuel pressure. * Similarly, many regulators are not rated for ethanol. We've tried some that are, and found them unreliable -- leaking, non-linear tracking vs. MAP... My tuner colleague has seen many more of these brands on various cars that come in to use his dyno. Aeromotive is one of the only brands he consistently gives a positive rating. TurboKraft uses Bosch if the engine sees limited ethanol use (ex: track day then back to gasoline), and Aeromotive for cars consistently fueling up with ethanol. The Bosch regulators are 3.5bar, and have all threaded fittings M16x1.5mm. The #13129 is great for 500-600whp on gasoline, but IMO a little small if you'll be running 500+whp on ethanol. The A1000-6 will support dual fuel returns, and we've done 800whp on ethanol with them, no problem. The downside is size, she's a little bulky. IIRC both regulators have ports for a pressure gauge, or better, a fuel pressure sensor tied into your engine management. Quote:

Thanks Chris, I was hoping you had time to speak out. Its always good to learn from those with real world experience with e85 usage.
So this https://www.amazon.com/Aeromotive-13109-A1000-6-Injected-Regulator/dp/B000CFSL1I flows enough even though its the same price level? Are there specific 930 id1000 id1300 injectors or are they all the same even though they are marketed mostly for car specific kits like gtr, lexus, honda? I need 14mm 64mm o ring to o ring with pencil spray but those specs are not usually on the adds? Possibly this for id1300: 1300.60.14 Universal Id1000 1000.60.14 universal Can I use gtr injectors GTR-R32, R33, R34 (14mm) 1000.60.14.D.6 or GTR-R32, R33, R34 (14mm) 1000.60.14.14.6

Does this set work for our engines? I could get this set without extra taxes and customs.
Injector Dynamics ID1000 Set of 6 - 1000.60.14.14.4 VW Audi BMW Toyota Nissan Ford http://sasautocustoms.co.uk/injector-dynamics/224-injector-dynamics-id1000-set-of-6-10006014144-vw-audi-bmw-toyota-nissan-ford.html The seller says they come from injector dynamics but they come with no latency charts or fuel flow info? He also said it is a flow matched set. Is the the way injectors come from ID? They have the needed info over ID web pages so the info is available.

I bought the ID1000 set above as I got a confirmation from ID support. They dont come with paper charts and one uses the info on their site.
I also have locked down the aeromotive A1000-6 so next is fuel filters which are another ball game with microns, flow and e85 compability. I started another thread on those. Thanks to all who helped.

ID1000 is not all stainless steel, so while they work with ethanol, it is not advisable do not leave ethanol in the fuel system long-term (ex: parked over the winter). Best to drain it and run gasoline through the system, add whatever fuel stabilizer you like when storing it.
