Engine bay- What's this plug?
Removed my intercooler and air intake and found this plug.
Any suggestion what this would be used for? Engine is running fine. ![]()

Thanks for the suggestion.
I've narrowed this down to the plug for the thermo time valve, as it is missing.

did the 930 have a thermo time valve? I did not think it did. at least not one that was electrically controlled. there is a TTV mounted in the block kind of behind the intake on the later cars, but it works off of engine heat. not sure if the 79 had one.
the link above suggested a thermo time switch (TTS) which is different and that does NOT goto a TTS, also the TTS is on the other side of the engine. some of the 911's had a TTV. it was used to drop the control pressure to richen the mixture to aide in cold starting. fan. was there ever a fan in the engine bay that helped with heat.

No fan in the engine bay, but according to the PET for 930.61 engine (which is what i have) there is a thermo valve part #91160610601. And that valve is not there on my engine.

The TTV came on the 930/63 as part of the California emission package (of crap). I've seen them on a couple other engines but did not note the type number. Often that plug is slid under the oil breather tube so you don't see it.

TTV, it helps with cold starts by lowering the CP. nice to have if you live in a very cold climate.
the 911's really needed them due to lean starts and backfiring that would blow up the air box, don't know if the 930 really needed one. yea, I was eyeballing those injector lines too.

Thanks, i guess the injector lines is new, had a engine rebuild done last winter.
no plan on putting a TTV in there if that is what the plug is for. The question was more to satisfy my curiosity. I'm changing to a longneck intercooler at the moment and found the wire. I also plan to remove the vacum limiter and the AAR
