Mark, I loved my 951 and THAT one looks great!!!

All right dude, a new horse in the stable! Looks nice, I don't care it it's not a 930. 951's were good machines. More picts, and more impressions. My girl is still sleeping, sipping on 12V cocktails during the winter hiatus.

Very nice!

Nice looking car!
I've read how they handle incredibly well with near 50/50 weight distribution. Approximately what does one that nice go for? |
Congrats!! That is a beautiful car.
I just bought one too! As soon as I got it, I tore it apart to do the following: 1) New Laso water pump 2) Timing Belt 3) Balance shaft Belt 4) Power steering Belt 5) Alternator belt 6) Crank seal 7) 2 x Balance shaft seals 8) Camshaft seal with new cheesehead bolt 9) Silicone hose kit from Lindsey Racing 10) Adjustable cam pulley from Lindsey Racing 11) Lindsey Racing billet aluminum pulleys 12) New OEM expansion coolant tank 13) New intercooler hard pipes that I polished 14) NGK plugs 15) Clewitt 8mm plug wires 16) Bosch distributor cap and rotor 17) Replaced starter with a reman. Bosch 18) Replace both reference sensors 19) New auxiliary water pump 20 Replaced vacuum lines 21) Odyssey PC680 battery with alumin. mount made at home 22) Powder coated quite a few parts 23) K&N cone filter 24) Replaced many of the original fasteners 25) Lots and lots of cleaning and de-greasing Ironically, I just fired it up tonight and it was great to hear it purr! |
Love the color!

It just rolled off the transport truck this morning, bought it from a really stand up guy from over on Rennlist. Paid 13k, and so far I think that was a fair deal.
Took a bit to get it cleaned up after the truck ride, then checked all the vitals and took her out, to shake the cob webs out. Pretty nice balance, acceptable performance for an essentially stock 951 {been chipped that's all}. Needs bigger sways, cat removal to start with...I'm sure the slope is just as slippery with these as it is with a 930. Don't think I'll slam it like I did to my 930...but don't hold me to that. Anybody in the market for a real low mile, perfect mechanical condition Infinity G37S coupe?? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485664422.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485664484.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485664520.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485664560.jpg |

When was the T-Belt done last?

Have you guys installed beefier rear axles? My coworker has one and he said the rear axles are really weak.

my 930 conversion project is almost stripped to the tub and about to start really sucking $$$ out of me. but cant wait to have it done, but will probably take at least another year. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485699146.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485699146.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485699146.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485699146.jpg |

All services for everything important has been done within the last 3K-ish miles. Brakes and fluids less than 5K, oil new, blah, blah, blah.
Just put it up in the air and did a thorough once over, found nothing alarming. Fixed a couple of minor electrical items, adjusted a couple of items and noted that the clutch master cylinder has a slight weep...that's it. So now to drive it a bunch and see what there is to see. I think everybody with an air cooled P car should get a Wasser pumper too....but what do I know. Mark |
reading this is making it harder to sell my 951. My 2nd a 88-951. Now I have an 86-951 which is at the last stages of restoration. Paint, seats, dash, just installed a MBC. The 951 is a reliable, economical, and versatile car. At this point I would rank them 930, 951, 996tt. Honestly.
Now I have a chance to get 2 928S4 parts cars to build 1. Too many cars. Parking fees alone are stupid here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
