Soften ride

Hunting for some tips on if it is possible to soften the ride of my 930.
At the moment it rides like a go cart with no suspension, which is fantastic when you want to drive the wheels off it. However when going for a leisurely drive it would be nice not to feel every little bump in our crap roads.

What are you able to share about your current set up: suspension, tire/rim combo, engine/transmission mounts, etc.

Knowing the current set up would be helpful to those offering advice.

^^^ Exactly. I'm currently upping my torsion bar rates due to the spongy water bed feel of the originals.

Maybe you can swap torsion bars with Derrick :-) Also the harder suspension bushings tighten it up - compared to 30 yr old rubber.

Sorry, but I can't resist: These aint no Cadillacs ya know? All high performance sports cars will jar your kidneys just running down to the store for a pack o' smokes.

Smaller diameter wheels and higher profile tires will do it. However, I don't think your going to like the side effects.

Several years ago I was at the Canadian National Auto Show in TO and struck up conversation with the lad tending the display around a revolving turbo cab. I asked him about the star of the show then let him know we have an '87 model at home. He made the comparison " the display model could be likened to a light saber, the '87 model could be likened to a sledge hammer".

Get a newer car if that is the result you are looking for. I prefer the sledge hammer

This is the same argument some guys make when the subject of building functioning a/c in an air cooled 911 comes up and I've got to call BS on both; no reason to not build any car out there into exactly what you want it to be.

I think you have the answer iceman,
I have a 4 inch jeep lift kit in storage, so I will break that out and fit it along with a set of 38 inch maxxis. Air them down to 10 psi and she will be nice and squishy.

Have just built a/c for my 80 Cherokee chief and crimped the ferrels with a hand press and it functions fine, so I will have a go on the 930 in the future. It will be possible rawknees and I will post the results.
