BB muffler surgery help..
Hi guys
I took out my muffler to do some polishing and read through some posts saying it was a good idea to cut the BB muffler to remove the baffles. from what I see its 2 perforated tubes side by side that only communicate by the perforations.from the search engine it looks different then other I seen. 1-do I have a BB muffler? 2-is it worth cutting open to remove these 2 perforated tubes? I know its not the best muffler but dont want to replace at this time. thanks guys thanks guys Last edited by ertech; 05-01-2017 at 07:07 PM.. |

It would be very loud if those tubes are removed. They may also be structural. Maybe add more holes? I'd take it apart just to verify what's in there as that will tell you the best course of action. Maybe add a U bend to connect the 2 baffle pipes.

mine is a dual outlet so you could cut the side open pull the pipe out. weld two exits on. the remove the inlet pipe so it's basically a box with one inlet and dual outlets. flames come out of both pipes when at the track. I was pulled over once though just so he could tell me how awsome it sounded lol.

Actually, I liked my B&B as is was. Still have it but not in service. Needs some major deeep cleaning to remove a bit of burnt on remnants of things that weren't meant to burn in the first place. Mine is single outlet - right side - with a matching muffler tip for the WG dump on the left side.

Some B&B mufflers had a layer of stainless steel wool packing around the inside about an inch thick.
It can be cut open and then cut all the perforated pipes and baffles out of it, leave the packing, and you'll be surprised at the increased power. It might sound nice too. |
