Old school h.p.
I'm sure some of you guys remember this article about the Kremer with the 962 motor. I added the article to my site. http://www.dp935registry.com/gifs/overkill.pdf

I'm always surprised at what they considered "big power" for the huge money paid for special wishes and such. 375WHP so easy to do with no more than bolt-ons. I want to see a 450whp CIS engine, THAT would be worth the money. Great looking car though, I'm a huge fan of the Kremer rear treatment. Could use some wider wheels ...

I think it shows how far technology has come in 26 yrs, and how much less it costs to build a reliable, low maintenance high h.p. motor. As a side note, what's that 962 motor worth today?
Not sure why they ran such skinny tires given Porsche had 11x15's and DP offered 13x15's. It would have been interesting to fit some racing slicks for the track day. Fun stuff.

2.8L 4-valve water-cooled 962 engine with 650hp at 1.1bar -- what's not to love?

Yes the 962 engine would be quite a hoot, but even that is underwhelming for the money at 650hp. It's just interesting to see how things have changed in 30 years. There are several 930's on this board that top 650hp using the 3.3L platform.

For sure. Dave Trichel & The zero to 60 garage uses a 3.3 that gets around 800 hp in track use so not just a dyno test for a few seconds but on track WOT for 15 laps ( 60 miles) and not rebuilt every year. So the 962 was for track use also so plenty more HP bump for short spurts. It seems like the 25 + year old turbo HP ceiling has not seen much improvement over the years. And for sure costs have come way down.

Big engine, small rubber on that car. You'd think if he spent that kind of coin he would have sprung for decent wheels and tires to handle it??

That video was a very impressive display of HP however probably not something that could be used as evidence of comparison with the 962 engine. I don't see this car flash by at the end which could have many reasons, overheating or tires gone, or both, or neither. Who knows.
