Innovate O2 Sensor Exhaust Clamp
Has anyone used the Innovate 3728 Exhaust clamp? They say you will get slightly leaner readings at idle. I don't want to weld a bung on my 930's exhaust. Has anyone used this setup to get accurate AFR readings?

I use it for tuning client's cars. Idle doesn't matter that much, it's cruise and boost you need to concentrate on.

It has a thumb screw clamp which only does a good job if you use plyers to tighten. This is a problem if you have nice tailpipes that you don't want to mark up.

For sure, mine blew off, never could get it tight enough. Was thinking of a small spot weld. Finally sold it to a tuner that did not tune turbo's.

I noticed .5 leaner with with clamp vs weld in. I found it was best used with the rpm converter. I would make 3,000-7,000 rpm blasts on slightly up hill on-ramps. Then down load onto a laptop.

I read somewhere on this turbo forum where someone only did the AFR at idle and enrichened it to 13.7. If I take into consideration what gumba stated of a .5 leaner measurement with the clamp-on and set it accordingly; I could place some sheet metal protection between the thread clamp and my chrome outlet. Years ago, when the car had to pass state emissions, I had a local shop set the AFR, they did it at idle; the car ran fine and I never had a problem. I could lean towards a slightly richer mixture; this would definitely be better than leaner. |

Better yet; I could clamp on a heavy duty T bolt hose clamp at the same location where the exhaust clamp screw contacts the exhaust outlet.

I would want to confirm a/f at full boost under load. Either a chassis dyno or slightly inclined on ramp or road, 3rd gear from 3,000 to red line.
