930s have bottomed in the market now coming up.
All you out there ready to sell your 930s in 75k range should hold tight. My personal opinion is these cars will upswing and hold in the low to mid $100k range in the next few years.
Really only one other car within reach is of a similar appreciating level and within most of our means (if you sold your 930.. but why would anyone do that??) the ferrari testarossa. Anyhow I've researched testarossa ownership and you need to budget around 4K a year in maintenance vrs 2k with a 930. https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2017/09/28/hvr-september-2017-bottom-25 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The Tr's have been a wet dream all my adult life. I've had to settle for a 930
![]() Of course, I just got back from a spirited little "putt" in my 930, so I'm just a little jazzed

I'm lucky enough to own both...
930 is way more fun, quicker, way cheaper to fix... And more fun to drive. The testarossa rarely gets driven because no one in their right mind would park it anywhere... But if you want to stop traffic, it's the car to get... Some fun cost comparisons... Porsche engine rebuild? $6000-$15,000. Testarossa? $50-80k dollars... Windshield? $600 for the 930. $4000 for the Ferrari. Tires for the Ferrari? Ha ha. Only ones that fit are made intermittently... Ferrari major service every 5-10 years? $10-15k... I did it myself, still not cheap. The list goes on. My car has needed next to nothing in 10 years, other than oil and maintenance. $1000-2000 a year covers it. But you don't ever want anything to break... Ever... ![]() The 930 I can wring out on a track. The testarossa I can drive around the neighborhood... Both cars appreciated tremendously... I wanted both since 7th grade... Bought both 10 years ago before they skyrocketed... Bo Last edited by bpu699; 10-02-2017 at 01:02 PM.. |

Man when I was a little boy in 1985 and for my birthday my dad took me to the "world of wheels". I can still remember walking in and seeing a crowd of people standing around with cameras going off. I pushed through the crowd to see what was the focus of all this attention. I soon saw a brand new ferrari testarossa roped off. WOW WOW. Can still remember the starstuck feeling. I kept going back to that car. I remember having to see it before we left. The gentlemen smiled at me and asked if I wanted to sit in it!!!! I said YES! I remember walking up to it not being able to find the door handle and the gentleman opening the door for me. I'll never forget the smell of that car! The feel of the leather, the interior, that prancing horse on the steering wheel! I never forgot that car or that day. From then on I was a car nut! To this day the testarossa can still make me a 8 year old boy again no matter how long my day has been.

I don't know If I could handle any more attention than a classic 930 brings. We drove mine to a family B-Day Brunch Sunday and all watched from the restaurant the people walking around my car taking pictures. It was really weird. I have never owned a car that drew a crowd. And I don't understand why it does.

Kids of the 1980s want these cars... I drooled over them as a teen, in my late 40s now...
Due to the crappy economy of the last 10 years, the kids of the 80s have had to put their dreams on hold... Over the next 10 years, I would be shocked if these cars didn't skyrocket... When you turn 50, you have some cash. Death is closer than it had been, and you realize life is finite. Time to relive your youth... 100k for a 930 is stupid cheap. 150k for a testarossa, even odder. There's only 7000 or so testarossas I believe... 3.5 billion people? 1% of the USA population has a net worth over 3-4 million? Let the good times roll... ![]() |

It's closer to 10,000 but still that's a small number! For a car that billions of people admire and lust after. It's safe to say of those billions many millions are willing to pay $$$$ to own their dream. I do feel the 930 had FAR greater attrition than the testarossa and the numbers are closer today. With only 15,000 +/- 930's built + attrition there is a dwindling number rolling around.
Mine will be on the chopping block in the next couple of years, as my retirement to Thailand is getting closer by the day. Somebody is going to get a real fun driver out of mine....not a garage queen...and will be priced accordingly. Mark |

Ha! Seems like 35% act like they have a net worth of 3-4 million. Maybe that's just a CA thing.

You cannot compare a Porsche 930 to a Ferrari anything, the 930 is a real car you can use, drive, maintain and modify. Ferraris are driveway jewelry. If you want an investment go buy real estate, cars are for FUN.

Yes the 930s performance is far beyond the testarossa but the testarossa is not a race car like the 930. It's a car about the driving experience. I do know the sounds of the flat 12 are amazing.
I don't believe the countach was a race car either like the 930 was and is. The 930 is alone in that respect. Always will be. You to start bring up cars like the 288 GTO before you get to the ferrari equivalent. At that point you talking many many Xs the $$$$.

The Ferrari, is much faster than the 930 past 70mph or so... 930 top speed 155-160? Testarossa did 185 in Road and Track... (this is from recall)... 1 mph faster than the Countach... |
