Cam Timing Question for 2.7 with SC cams
Hi,
I’m slowly putting back together my ‘77 2.7 using Mahle RS pistons and cylinders, SC cams ground by Web Cam running on the Bitz EFI. First question relates to TDC; I’m using the Stomski Digidex with his TDC finder and in his video he says that the pulley markings may be off- my parting seam lines up with the edge of the “V” cut- 2.3 degrees off. I did the procedure twice with same result. Does this seem possible? Picture looks farther out of spec than reality- must have angled the iPad a bit! Second question is what should I be aiming for on the timing spec? Thanks, Rutager ![]()

So I’ve been looking up numbers and I called Web Cam. Wayne’s book gives two specs for the SC cams; first is .9-1.1 the second is 1.4-1.7 and that is what Web sent me too.
Why the difference? Thanks

The difference was the settings for 78/79 8.5 cr and 80/83 9.3 cr
Using carrera cams and JE pistons we went to 2.0. On a 3.4 build and motronic Why are you using CIS cams with RS pistons when S cams or Solex grinds are available? Bruce |

Hi Bruce,
I took the recommendation from Steve From Rennsport that the SC cams gave a better low end for the 2.7. I only street drive the car, so high RPM power isn’t as important to me. Rutager

The different specs were for different port sizes on the engines. In general the smaller number gives more top end power and the larger number gives more low end torque.
