NOW AVAILABLE FOR ORDERING - How To Rebuild And Modify Porsche 911 Engines!!!

Hi everyone. I have just confirmed that the books are on a truck, headed for Los Angeles, as I write this. We are expecting to ship them out next week. For those of you who ordered the preview copy - do nothing - yours will be mailed to you with the Bonus CD-ROM as soon as they arrive.

For those of you who would like to order a copy now, you can do so at this URL. It will also be shipped out next week as soon as they arrive:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/BOOK/POR_BOOK_101pro_main3.htm

If you order it along with something else, then your order may be delayed until the book comes in. Choose USPS Priority Mail for the lowest shipping rate ($5.50) for both the CD-ROM and the book.

All books purchased through Pelican will be autographed by me!

NOTE: If you have already placed an advance order through another book store or Internet store, I suggest that you CANCEL IT! You can ONLY get the Bonus CD-ROM (4000+ photos) from Pelican. The CD-ROM and book bundle are $34.95. The CD is available separately for $15.95 for those who insist on purchasing the book elsewhere.

IF YOU WANT TO SUPPORT PELICAN AND SUPPORT THIS BBS, BUY THE BOOK HERE. IN ADDITION TO GETTING THE BONUS CD-ROM, BUYING IT HERE BRINGS IN MANY MORE DOLLARS THAN BUYING IT ELSEWHERE. I make about a buck or so on each book if you buy it elsewhere. I make quite a bit more for Pelican if you buy it here. IF YOU WANT ME TO CONTINUE SPENDING MY TIME TO WRITE QUALITY BOOKS LIKE THIS ONE, THEN PLEASE PURCHASE IT FROM PELICAN. I cannot stress this heavily enough.

Here is the blurb on the new book:

Carb RebuildIn development for more than two years, Wayne's next book details the trials of rebuilding the 911 engine. Geared towards the novice rebuilder and expert alike, this book takes aim at the notion that you need a master's degree from the Porsche factory in order to rebuild a 911 engine. This book aims to unlock never before published secrets only known in the 'inner circle' of Porsche engine rebuilders.Rear Caliper

Having your engine rebuilt by someone else? This book will arm you with all the information that you need to ask your mechanic before you hire him to rebuild your precious 911 engine. With this book in hand, you can easily pick out the experts from the pretenders - and save yourself thousands of dollars by securing yourself a quality engine rebuild.

chain_tensioners.JPG (9601 bytes)The book is 240 pages long, and will contain all the information that you need to complete the rebuild yourself.  In addition, there is a lengthy chapter on performance upgrades, ranging from the relatively easy task of regrinding your camshafts, all the way up to the installation of a computer-controlled engine management system.  The book is broken down into the following sections:

  • When to Rebuild?
  • Engine Teardown
  • Machine Shop Work / Reconditioning
  • Performance Upgrades
  • Engine Reassembly
  • Break-in Procedures
  • Engine Specifications & Tolerances
  • Parts Diagrams (1965-89)

Here is a sneak-preview of some of the pages contained in '911 Engine Rebuild'  The entire book is formated in an easy-to-read style, and all photos and illustrations are detailed in full-color!
The Bonus CD-ROM (included in the book bundle) contains more than 4,000 additional pictures not included in the original text. These photos are provided for reference, when a single photo in the book is not clear enough.

All books sold through Pelican Parts will be autographed by the author! For more information on this book and the Bonus CD-ROM, please see the Official Website for the book.

Thanks,

Wayne

I really appreciated the preview copy. I can't wait to get my hands on the final version with the color photos next to the associated text. I want to say how great it was of you to make a preview copy available for those of who .. JUST COULD NOT WAIT.

Thanks again

I'm already planning to turn my preview copy into the one that lives in the garage. It will lay flat on my bench better than the bound copy... and I wont have to wory about getting greasy fingerprints on the color pictures. Only wish it had that darn apendix A with the specs. I'd probably laminate that, if I had it.

Wayne, It's about time. After I get the book, I think I will be ready to go for putting the engine back together.

As for the preview copies, I would suggest that everyone just sort of tuck them away in a box and keep them as 'collector editions.' There are a bunch of errors in there, and a bunch of missing text. The final version should be the only one referenced, as it is 99.99% correct...
