				Clutch question - 1970 911t
			 
			So, I need a new clutch but this clutch disc does not look like any of these ones listed as the correct part. Does anyone recognise it?   | ||

			That is an original rubber damper in the center for comfort.Just replace with a spring center disc.

			you are telling me, there were remnants of it at the bottom of the bell housing. i imported it that way!

			What he is telling you is your disk was still OK, and you are lucky.  Those rubber centers have a habit of disintegrating which causes catastrophic failure of the clutch.

			The disc face looks OK, but you wouldn't want to use it because of the now partially destroyed rubber center.  What happens is that bits of rubber get onto the friction surfaces, usually leading to an inability to disengage completely the transmission from the engine.  Not much of an issue driving, but lots of grinding when stationary and trying to get 1 or R.  You have to turn the engine off, engage the gear, and start the engine.  The steel cage has stops, so without all the rubber in there, letting off the gas lets things move one way, and back on the gas means they have to move the other way before you get power to the wheels. Sort of suggests the engine hasn't been out of the car before. | ||

			Just make sure you get the 225mm disk that was used only in 70-71 for last two years of the 901/911 trans. Any good supplier will know this.
