Good idea, open the valve, take the plug out and hit it with my shop vac.

Thanks!

I too am in the same boat in terms of, to split the case of a 3.2 or not. I purchased a Euro 3.2 with broken head studs, it sat for a number years in a shop with the heads off. The crank spins nicely and I know the history of the motor aprox 60K. Only a couple stud on the bottom broke. I was under the impression 3.2 cases were considerably more stable than mag 2.7's and would not require machining after splitting. I have new studs and I am in the process of getting the heads refreshed. Still stuck on splitting the case. Living on Kauai it is not like I can choose from a number of machine shops that have experience in 911 cases or have access to mechanics versed in air cooled engines. My concern is making sure the case if free of any debris etc. I have experience with assembling my 3.0 after a top end but I'm nervous about splitting the 3.2.

FYI, if any experienced engine builders would be interested "working vacation in Hawaii" to help with my 3.2 re-build I have free accommodations and an extra truck . No major expectations just throwing it out there.

I would not touch a low end with low miles except for ARP rodbolts. That does not require splitting the case.

Hawaii is tempting.....

I rebuilt my 3.0 with zero Porsche experience and a few years later it still purrs like a kitten and has never leaked a drop of oil. Splitting the case is not a big deal in my humble opinion but it seems to scare a lot of people. I am not sure why, buttoning it up is not hard if you are organized and all of your parts are ready to go.

Haven't made the decision yet.

Pulled the valve covers and the motor looks super clean inside. No broken studs and it certainly looks like a 65,000 mile engine. The outside is really cruddy so I think I am going to just change out all of the gaskets I can get to without taking too much apart once it is all together, clean the heck out of it and run it.
