LN Nickies with Stock 2.4S Pistons

I have the opportunity to buy a set of 84mm LN Engineering Nickies for my 73 2.4S build. Will stock 2.4S pistons work well with the LN cylinders?

Thanks in advance.

Greg

The stock pistons should work with the correct clearance. It is unknow if your stock pistons will provide the correct clearance with the cylinders. You might have to send the cylinders and pistons to millennium coating (or LN engineering ) to have them recoated and honed to the correct size if you wanted to use your stock pistons. You might be better off if the clearance is not correct to have JE or CP make pistons the correct size for the cylinders. FYI the new P&C sets from Mahle no longer use biral cylinders and now use nicasil coated aluminum cylinders.

OK, the difference is the 2,4s used iron cylinders. The Nickies are aluminum. So the question is will the older pistons be compatible when it comes to their expansion rate when the motor is at running temperature in the aluminum cylinders.

It may not matter, but it is worth asking. I would call LN Engineering and ask.
