Read the section on cases carefully - you may not want to align-bore your case just yet. Read the section on page 50 about case resizing...

I think what Wayne has accomplished by publishing two well written how to books in the span of 18 months is incrediable. There was definitely a need for the books and to now to have two that are so well written and organized is unbelievable! The reason the publications will be a success is that to have someone so well versed mechnically, technically, ect and to be able to convey those skills so well in writing is something that doesn't come together very often or at all. My hat is off to you Man!

Thanks for the compliment, however, I must point out that the 101 Book was released in Sept 2001, after about 2 years of work, and the Engine book was released in March 2003, after about 18 months of work.
Unfortunately, they don't come so quickly. The good news is that the technology is getting better (anyone else notice the improvement in the photos from 101 to the Engine Rebuild book) with the digital cameras, and I'm also figuring out ways to do things just a bit quicker... -Wayne

I just bought the Red Engine book last night. Im a newbie at Porsche, and was at the book store looking for a technical manual that I can read to learn and also use as a reference for future repairs. I picked up the book... thumbed through it and thought "Hey cool! This is exactly what Ive been looking for, well-thought out, organized, colorful and easy to understand!"
So I bought it, took it home and started to read it and then saw Pelican parts and realized who it was written by. Very cool. I recently found this forum, which has been helpful and the book will be helpful too. Wayne, I sent you a private message earlier today, I dont know if you will get it or not... but Im looking for some recommendations on good and reasonable priced shops here in the RB area. I need a new clutch and a few other things.... any advice you could give would be much appreciated! Thanks, Erik ![]() |

Wayne,
I knew there must have been at least 2 years plus behind the scenes that went into the 101 book, I only meant that you had two great books "published" within a span of 18 months! Didn't mean to take anything away from you. Biff |
